Nine hours later, they arrive at the Blue Willow pack territory and Harrison sends out a greeting to his pack. Patrol wolves flank the SUV as Harrison pulls up in front of the Pack Clinic. He gets out and Andre follows with Indigo asleep in his arms. They get Indigo checked in and hand over her medical files to the Doctor who reads over them quickly. He gently examines her and does an ultrasound of her belly, moving slowly to get a good look at her abdomen. "Hmm. The pups appear very healthy and she isn't too bad off except for her neck, leg, and stomach" says the Doctor. "I'm going to put her on a specialized diet to start building up her food tolerance. Once she can handle solids, we can tailor the food to her needs. I am concerned about her neck though, this wound was very deep. There'll always be a scar unfortunately" he says.
"In a few weeks, I can give a definite answer on how many pups and their genders. I think there may be two, but I can't be certain. For now, you two get some rest. I'll let you know if anything changes" says the Doctor. Harrison and Andre leave to rest and the Doctor smiles at Indigo. "I'll make sure you get well" he promises, wolf growling in agreement.
Two days later, Indigo starts physical therapy with the Doctor to build some strength back up and get muscle developing. After an hour, Indigo is beyond tired and is breathing hard. She coughs and the Doctor listens to her breathing carefully. "Indy, have you always had this cough" he asks? "Hmm...yeah. It comes and goes in episodes. I usually get pretty sick in the colder months" Indy says. "These episodes...could you describe them for me" asks the Doctor. "They usually start with a mild cough and progress to a high fever, dizziness, nausea, and really sharp pains in my chest...like I'm drowning" Indy says. "And how are they usually treated" asks the Doctor? "Antibiotics and rest. The antibiotics never really work, but the episodes usually end after a few weeks" Indy explains.
"Would you be okay if I ran some different tests? It'll require you to travel to the hospital in the next city" says the Doctor. "I don't mind..." Indy says. "Perfect, I'll let Alpha and Beta know" says the Doctor. Two hours later, Indy is being taken to the hospital with Andre and Harrison following in a separate car. The Doctor gets Indigo admitted and set up on the Alpha's private floor before starting off with basic diagnostic tests like bloodwork, an x ray of her chest, an MRI, and an EKG. After all the testing is finished, he gives Indy a mild sedative to relax her before waiting for the results. When her blood work comes back, he's shocked at how low her white blood cell count is. He checks her eyes with a pin light and checks her capillary refill time which is very slow. As soon as the x ray and MRI are ready, he rushes to look at them. "Son of a..." he curses, seeing how many white spots are in her lungs. He calms himself down before calling for an oncology consult and an OBGYN exam. Once the oncologist, also a wolf, looks at the scans, he shakes his head.
