Indigo Lawson sighed softly as she stares out the small, barred window of her cell. The cold, damp cell had been her home for the past year. The cold silver shackle around her ankle kept her from moving more than a few feet. Indigo's ankle was an angry red from where the silver constantly burned her skin. Indigo's body was thin and pale from malnutrition. Bruises littered her torso and deep lashes covered her back. Dried blood was caked to each lash, making Indigo wince with every breath. Her hair was caked with blood and dirt. Her lips were nearly blue and her breathing was ragged and raspy.
The icy winter wind cut through the thin shirt Indy wore. The shirt was old and faded, sporting holes and numerous blood stains. The pants Indy wore were in similar condition. All around Indy, moans and whines filled the cells as other prisoners suffered similarly. Indy looks up as the pack's Alpha walks into the prison, his authority seeping off of him. Indigo flinches as other prisoners start yelping and cowering away in terror. Indigo simply shows her neck and murmurs "Alpha."
"Indy...what happened to you? You used to be so happy and carefree? I remember you running around and playing with Doc. How did you end up here? It hurts me to keep you here. Why can't you just tell me what happened" says the middle aged man, opening Indy's cell. Indy starts coughing, blood splattering the ground as her body throbs violently. The Alpha tries to touch Indy, but she jerks away as her wolf surges to the surface, snarling protectively. The Alpha falls back in shock as Indy's wolf growls in warning. "What the hell" asks the Alpha. Indy continues to cough violently, body jerking with each cough. After a few minutes, Indy manages to stop coughing and looks the Alpha in the eyes. "You want to know what happened Alpha? I'll tell you...only because I know you have no clue and will probably kill me afterwards. Your son...yes that's right, your son Tyler is my mate. But he rejected me for that...that bitch. He rejected me and made up the story about me attacking him and her being his mate! He was mine! Mine! But I'm not good enough...I'm just a runt...trash...a disgrace" Indigo rasps, hot tears running down her face as the Alpha lets her words sink in. "You...you're not lying. He really...oh goddess" gasps the Alpha, running out of Indigo's cell.
Hours later, the Beta and Gamma walk in and take the shackle from Indigo's ankle off. They very carefully wrap her in a blanket and carry her to the Pack hospital. The Pack Doctor moves her into a steamy bathtub and proceeds to bathe her three times, reopening the lashes and washing off all the scabs. He detangles her hair and scrubs it really good with a lice shampoo before combing through it. Once her hair is clean and braided out of the way, he dries her off and starts treating her back. He starts her on an iv with strong antibiotics and pain medicine as well as fluids and warm saline.
