They continue to walk in through the barely lit tunnel, leading into a room, in the middle of the room sat a table.

General Erinmore stood behind it, scanning over the various maps which litter the top. The General turns to see the trio, Blake and Schofield stand to attention, saluting the man.

Sanders pipes up, introducing them, "Lance Corporals Blake and Schofield, Sir. And Ms Ronan, the medic."

"Which one of you is Blake?" Erinmore questions.

"Sir." Blake replies to his name.

"You have a brother, a Lieutenant in the 2nd Devons?" Erinmore stated.

"Yes, Sir. Joseph Blake. Is he-" Alena could hear the concern rising in his voice as he spoke, thinking something terrible had happened to his brother.

"Alive, as far as I know. And with your help I'd like to keep it that way." Erinmore replied, reassuring the boy.

Blake let out a sigh of relief at the mention of his brother being alive.

"Sanders tells me you're good with maps. That true?" The General asks the younger man.

"Good enough, Sir." Blake replied.

Erinmore more lets out a sound of gratification, "So. " He turns the map to face the three, allowing them to see where the lines are. The British lines marked in blue, and the German lines in red.

Erinmore points to an area on the map, "We are here. The 2nd Devons are advancing here." He points to a cross on the map at Croisilles Wood.

"How long will it take you to get there?" Erinmore looked to Blake, awaiting an answer.

Blake takes a moment, studying the map.
At last he answers, "I don't understand, Sir."

Alena speaks up, "Sir, isn't that land held by the Germans?" She looked at the map, seeing the area marked at occupied territory.

The older man looked at Alena, while Sanders looked at her is surprise, "Germans have gone." Is all General Erinmore said.

A look of shock slapped itself across their faces, Schofield was about to speak but was cut off by Erinmore,

"Don't get your hopes up. It appears to be a strategic withdraw. They seem to have created a new line, nine miles back here, by the looks of it"

He then runs his finger over newly drawn lines on the map, showing the Germans' new trenches and fortifications.

"Colonel Mackenzie is in command of the 2nd. He sent word yesterday morning that he was going after the retreating Germans. He is convinced he has them on the run - that of he can break their lines now, he will turn the tide." He paused for a moment.

"He is wrong."

Alena noticed William eyeing Tom, as he begins to register what this means.

Erinmore spoke up again, "Colonel Mackenzie has not see these aerials of the enemy's new line."
