THE GAME called life was never a fair thing. Especially to those who played by the rules, there would also be others to find a flaw in the system and use it to their advantage. They were manipulated that everything they did was all in the rules of survival, to survive a fate worse than death, but in reality death itself would've been a much better outcome. At least all the suffering came to an end, you could die with the fact you would never be a pawn again for other's entertainment. 'May the odds be ever in your favor' was all propaganda. Propaganda for the imaginary you could have after the games. Maybe if you had enough hope, they could be true.Orion Hope always told his kids that, as long as you hear our name then don't ever give up. As long as we were alive there was something worth fighting for.
Oh, how she wished her mind bared the same innocence it had before she let the games change her. Now she didn't even know the meaning of hope anymore.
Growing up in a place that idolized the Hunger Games and ignored the true meaning of the games. Ignored the message that was truly hidden if you looked well enough. These events were not something to enjoy. No one seemed to understand that.
Mayella should've been smarter to realize the Capitol was never truly going to let her live in peace. She was never a victor, she was a survivor. She escaped death, but at what cost? At what sacrifice did it mean to survive the Hunger Games? Mayella should've known, Snow would never let her truly live in peace... she was never free from the moment she stepped on that stage. Her life was not hers from that moment moving forward. She has seen firsthand what those games can do to a person, she's lived in the same house of its victims.
