I Am Not Your Prey

When the night comes,
they quietly hunt for their prey under the moonlight,
with their gentle smile and rounded eyes that would fool anyone.
You might not know their intention at first glance.
Look closely, my dear.
They have sharp teeth and eyes of a killer, ready to tear you apart.

So you run for your life,
running through the pitch-black woods that remind you constantly of the pain being left in the dark.
But unlike the leaves that are inevitably fall in the hands of the wind,
you—who have grown so tired of playing by the fate's rules—choose to write your own stars and defy the odds instead.

You might stumble along the way,
you might lose sight in the dark and fall into their traps.
But the moon will be the fair witness,
when that courageous heart of yours conquers them all,
even befriended the night itself.

The wolves are crying in agony as you climb your way to the mountain's top.
Their heart is full with envy and they wonder how you freed yourself from the chain of darkness.
"...but we shattered you into pieces!"
"...but we thought we fooled you!"
"...but we almost got you!"
Oh, how the table has turned,
now they're the ones left in the dark.
Maddened by despair, as they cowardly wince to their hiding spot before the sun emerges, whilst you set your eyes in the horizon of hope, patiently waiting for the sunrise from up high.
They are eternal prisoners of the night and bound to satisfy their hunger day by day.
Tomorrow, they will try to lure you again, to make you step into the shadow while your guard is down—

don't let them.

{you belong to the light, do not extinguish the fire inside you just because their cold heart cannot withstand the heat}
