"Aren't you excited to be starting school." I hand Chris his backpack.
"Very excited." he nods and opens the front door.
"Hold on Chris we need to get Catherine and leave her at grandmas." I pull his backpack and he walks back inside. After getting Catherine I drive over to my moms which is now only 2 streets away.
"Mother I'm here with Cat." I yell and she rushes into the living room.
"I can't believe Chris is starting school." she cries. "Chris wouldn't you rather stay with grandma than start school." she asks him.
"No Nana I want to go to school." he laughs and pulls my shirt. "Come on mommy I don't want to be late."
"On that note I'll be back later, make sure you pick up Chris." I remind her and head out again.
The drive to Jones Middle isn't that much farther as my drive from Edwards would've been. I pull up and the school is quiet larger than the elementary school.
I unload my bag and start up the parking lot.
Being a new teacher is like being a new student, no one really knows you and no one really introduces themselves until a few days or so. Lucky for me I met some of the other math teachers and they took a liking to me.
I pass down the Hall and leave my stuff in my room C15, I'm not only the head of the math department but I get to teach 2 classes.
"Knock knock." I hear someone giggle.
I turn quickly and look down at the blonde. "Oh hello." I smile and shake her gestured hand.
"Hey I'm Ms.Daren kinda new here too." She smiles.
"Oh really" I laugh. "Did you teach anywhere else."
"Yeah I was at Buck Middle School but moved over to Jones." she nods her head.
"Well we can be new together." I tell her. "Are you 8th grade too."
"I am actually." she claps. "US history is my forte." she curtsies.
"Ah very nice, history was my favorite subject in school." I explain. "But I don't exactly know how I ended up in the math department." I laugh.
"Well if you need anything all of us are meeting at the lounge for a first day meeting after school." she smiles and exits the class.
