Mark "Evan" Hansen
Main Character. Evan is the title character of "Dear Evan Hansen." He is a senior in high school with severe anxiety. At the beginning, he has a cast on his left arm. He has dirty blond hair and blue eyes. He also has very light freckles.

Zoe Murphy
Major Character. Zoe is Evan's original love interest. She is a junior in high school. She is jazz band and loves music. She has light brown hair and green eyes. She often scribbles on her jeans and converse.

Connor Murphy
Main Character. Connor is the most hated senior in school. He's known best for being a pot smoker who was kicked out of Hanover. He has severe depression. He has long, dark brown hair and blue eyes. His arms are scarred, but he hides this.

Dr. Richard Sherman
Minor Character. Dr. Sherman is Evan's therapist. He prompts Evan to write letters to himself to bring to his appointments. He is younger, but doesn't appear to be.

Alana Beck
Major Character. Alana is one of the smartest seniors. She is kind to everyone, but it's hard to know who she considers a friend. She is of African American descent, having dark skin, brown hair, and brown eyes. She wears glasses.

Cynthia Murphy
Supporting Character. Cynthia is the mother of Connor and Zoe Murphy. She is a stay-at-home mom. She has short, red hair and hazel eyes.

Larry Murphy
Supporting Character. Larry is the father of Connor and Zoe Murphy. He is a well-known lawyer who works often. He has gray hair and blue eyes.

Erica Lindon, RN
Background Character. One of the nurses at Rochester Medical Center. Co-worker of Heidi Hansen.

Heidi Hansen, LPN
Supporting Character. Heidi is the mother of Evan Hansen. She is a nurse at Rochester Medical Center but she is going to school to be a paralegal. She has blonde hair and brown eyes.

Jared Kleinman
Major Character. Jared is Evan's childhood best friend and a senior in high school. He is a computer nerd. He has brown hair and brown eyes and wears glasses.

Miguel "M" Ortega
Background Character. Miguel was a friend of Connor's at Hanover. The two had feelings for each other, but neither would admit to it and the relationship fizzled our before it began.

Mark Hansen
Background Character. Mark is the father of Evan Hansen and an accountant. He moved to Colorado after divorcing Heidi and married a woman named Theresa, taking in her daughters as his own.

Theresa Hansen
Background Character. Theresa is Mark's second wife. She is currently a stay-at-home mom, but was once a cocktail waitress. She has two daughters and expecting her first son.

Haley Maxwell
Minor Character. Haley is Evan's stepsister. She is around the same age as Evan, being a junior in high school. She lives with her mother and stepfather in Colorado.

Dixie Maxwell
Background Character. Dixie is Evan's younger stepsister and Haley's biological sister. Like Haley, she lives with her mother and stepfather in Colorado.

Ollie Hansen
Background Character. Ollie is Evan's unborn half-brother, sharing the same father. He will also be a half-brother to Haley and Dixie, sharing the same mother.

Robbie "Rox" Oxman
Background Character. Rox is one of the cool kids at school. He is known for being part of "The Zone." He isn't a bad guy, but he only talks to other cool kids.

Kristin Marlow
Background Character. Senior class treasurer.

Glenn Spade
Background Character. Runner-up for senior class treasurer.

Background Character. Senior class secretary.

Harper Mitchell
Background Character. Senior class vice president.

Minor Character. Kenna is a junior and a waitress at a small restaurant that Connor and Evan visit. She is kind and optimistic.

Henson Burke
Minor Character. Henson is a bully, one of the kids who spread rumors about Evan. He is a baseball player.

Kinsley Kleinman
Minor Character. Kinsley is Jared's younger sister. She has a big heart and is very close to her older brother. She has the same brown hair as Jared but has blue-green eyes.

Ember Patrick
Background Character. Ember is Kinsley's best friend from school.

Anne Kleinman
Minor Character. Anne is the mother of Jared and Kinsley. She is a real estate agent and long-time friend of Heidi Hansen.

Supporting Character. Michael is a junior in high school. He becomes a friend of Evan after seeing him have a panic attack. He too has anxiety and depression. He has medium-toned skin, dark brown hair, and brown eyes. He has glasses.

Jeremiah "Jeremy" Heere
Minor Character. Jeremy is a junior in high school and Michael's best friend. He has dark brown hair, brown eyes, and freckles. He has glasses.

Christine Canigula
Minor Character. Christine is a junior in high school. She is Jeremy's girlfriend and a friend to Michael. She is of Asian American descent and has pale skin, black hair, and brown eyes.

Brooke Lohst
Minor Character. Brooke is a junior in high school and friend to Michael. She has short brown blonde hair and brown eyes.

Background Character. Mr. Reyes is the school's drama teacher who also helps in the cafeteria during lunch. He has an obsession with hot pockets.

Minor Character. Ray is one of the bullies who spreads rumors about Evan. He plays baseball and football and is friends with Henson.

Mitchell Howard
Minor Character. Mr. Howard is the school's principal. He is fair, but strict, and has zero tolerance for bullying.

Bianca "Bee" Sanchez
Background Character. Bee is a junior in high school and one of Zoe's best friends. She is a bit more popular than Zoe, but doesn't care about status.
