Your bro dropped you off, and he told you to call him if you needed anything. You nod at him, and stroll up to Egderps door; knocking on it a few times. He opened the door, blanket wrapped around him like it was a cocoon. His face was pale, his nose red, as well as his ears.
"Yes?" He answers, his voice muffled from sickness.
You understand now why he wasn't at school today. "Dude, how the hell did you get sick?"
"I had to be outside yesterday." Everything clicks. The day before had a massive thunderstorm. You're amazed and wondering why John would be outside during that (or at all) but that didn't matter.
John looks down at his shoes, and his nose sniffs. "Dave?" You raise an eyebrow. "I'm sorry about the other night."
You could have taken this chance to act cool, but you know John better than that, and you know that he knows you're actually a geek. And plus, you can't not apologize to him. You like him. Not just in a friend way, but...more.
"Nah, John. I over reacted." You put your elbow up and rub your neck, feeling slightly uncomfortable about this. You're usually the one who doesn't give a shit, so it's rare for you to be on this end of the stick.
"Wanna come in?" John asks, slightly stepping aside for you to enter.
"Fuck no, you're sick. I don't want any of that stuffed-up nose crap."

You're John Egbert, now. You're talking with your best friend Dave, and you're sick as hell.
"Yeah, you're probably right." You admit, closing up the space once again in the doorway. "If I may ask, why do you cover your eyes with shades?"
Dave once again raises a blond eyebrow, but even higher this time. "What do you mean 'why?'"
You feel as if you should shut-up. Saying why would be against your 'not-a-homosexual' image you brainwashed everyone with. But you know why you say that. Oh, you know why. When you looked into his eyes, Friday night, you knew why you declared you weren't gay. It's because you were.
You play it off. Barely. "They're cool! Man, I wish I had red eyes."
Dave smirks. "John, you with red eyes would look like a demon. It's not your color."
"Yeah, but isn't red yours?" What are you talking about? Each other's color? This is weird. "Never mind. How was school?"
"You know, trapped in my jail cell of a desk. Moving around each hour to the next cell with another prison guard who thinks they know it all." You nearly applaud at his spot-on description of jail. SCHOOL! School! You mean school.
"Did I miss anything?" You question.
"Just boring Monday shit." Dave replies.
You guys talk a little more, before Dave calls his bro to come back and pick him up. His bro comes and you watch him go, then you close your door after his car is no longer in sight. You go to your den, and press the play button on the paused movie. You're watching 'National Treasure' starring Nic Cage with a grin on your face, and your stomach finally feeling relief. Dave's not mad at you.

A/N:
Sorry this was a short chapter! I'm usually one to rush to the point, but I'm going to try to take it slow. Also, I'm sorry if Dave says, 'dude' a lot, but that's actually how I speak and I'm trying not to add it into anyone else's dialogue :3
Hope you enjoyed Ch.4!
