I like school, it’s a place where I can relax and feel appreciated. Today’s my birthday and I’m 16, two more years and I can move out of my house from my mom, dad and brother David. I love my family, actually I’ll rephrase that I love my mom. My dad doesn’t even know I exist and David constantly abuses me mentally and physically. My mom is really busy though she’s a doctor at the hospital and my dad’s a police officer.
As I walk down the halls to my locker I get the occasional “Hi” and some of my friends say “Happy birthday Claire.” I get my things from my locker as I try and carry the heavy books I drop my pencil case. But before I could pick it up myself David’s best friend Howie came out of nowhere and quickly picked it up (Howie has an enormous crush on me). “Hi Claire, happy birthday I saw you drop your pencil case and me being a gentleman I decided to pick it up for you.” Howie said quickly (he always talks fast when he’s nervous.) “Howie, were you following me around trying to find the right time to make a move?” I ask him even though I already know the answer. “No.” he said trying to look shocked. “Howie?” I sigh while rolling my eyes. “Yes.” He finally admitted. Just then the bell rang and Howie went his class while I went to mine.
