"Susan, why are you wearing Dally's Christopher?" Sodapop asked me, the next day
"So everyone knows she's mine." Dally told him
"I never thought that in a million years, you two would date." Two-bit commented
"No one asked for your opinion, Two-bit." I said
"You're already starting to rub off on her, aren't you, Dal." Said Steve
"Whatever." He said, rolling his eyes
"Ya know, I had the weirdest dream last night," I said, changing the subject, "I dreamt that Johnny killed a soc."
"I had a weird dream, too," added Johnny, "I was killed in a burning church."
"I dreamt that I was shot by the fuzz." Said Dally
"I had a dream that I had to do homework, it was so boring!" Said Ponyboy
"Speaking of which, don't you have some?" Darry asked him
     "No." Ponyboy responded
"Anyway, I have to go to work," I said, kissing Dally on the cheek, "see y'all later."
About five minutes passed and I rushed back in the Curtis' house. "That was a quick shift." Said Two-bit
"Very funny, I was almost jumped." I explained
"What did they do?" Asked Darry
I explained to them what happened. I even had to pull my gun out on them. "So now I'm here." I said
"Want me to walk with you?" Dallas asked me
"You don't have to, but I would like that." I said
     "Alright, lets go."
We walked for a few minutes and ran into a group of girls that were walking in our direction. "Look girls, it's Dallas Winston and another one of his"- she called me a word I prefer not to say. She bumped me
I bumped her back with my hips and said, "Takes one to know one, sweetheart." I turned to Dally, "Do you smell cheap perfume, hun?"
He sniffed the air. "I do, actually." He chuckled
We walked to The Dingo, "Thanks for walking me over here." I smiled at him
"No problem, I'm starving, anyway." He said
I kissed him, and we went inside. I clocked in, and he sat down. He eventually left, and I continued with my shift. "Welcome to The Dingo, what can I get you?" I paused and looked at the person
"Sarah Markin, is that you?" I asked
"Oh my gosh, Susan Kenelsworth, is that you?" She asked, excited
Sarah was my best friend in high school, back in Georgia. She's a year behind me, making her fifteen; almost Sodapop and Johnny's age. "What on earth are you doing in Tulsa Oklahoma of all places?" I asked her
"Looking for you, I need to talk to you. When does your shift end?" She asked
"In an hour. Here, meet me at this address at 7:30." I handed her a piece of paper with the Curtises address on it, "I wanna introduce you to my friends and boyfriend. By the way, where are you staying at?"
"A hotel down the street." She said
She got her food, ate, payed, and left. My shift ended and I went to the Curtises. Was this a good idea? Yeah, they'll love her! I wonder why she flew all the way out here to look for me. I know her father was a bit iffy; did he finally cross the line?
7:30 arrived and there was a knock at the door. "I got it." I said, knowing it was Sarah, "Hey, Sarah, come inside. Guys, this is my friend from school: Sarah Markin." I told them
     "Hi." They all said
"Alright, y'all introduce yourselves, I'll be right back. Oh, and if you touch her, I'll kill you." I said
I meant it, Sarah's fragile and I'm with her how Dally is with Johnny. Extremely overprotective. "Anyway, Sarah, what did you wanna talk about?" I asked, coming back into the living room
     "He did it." She stated
"Did what?" I asked, knowing it was her dad
     "He hit me."
She showed me a bruise on her forehead that I couldn't see, because of her bangs. I immediately filled with rage. "Anyone know the jail time for murder?" I asked
     "Electric chair." Said Ponyboy
"Anyone know how much plane tickets to Atlanta are?"
"You don't have to kill him, Susan." Sarah said
"Fine, but you're not going back to Georgia; you're moving in with me." I said
"I was hoping you'd say that, I have nowhere else to go." She said
     I hugged her, "You're crazy." I said
     "I know" she said
"Susan, did you remember the socs?" Sodapop reminded me
We explained to her the way things worked around here. I desperately hoped that it wouldn't turn into an argument. "I think as long as you're careful, have some sort of bluff, and know basic self defense, you'll be fine." I said
"Anyone have a cancer stick?" Steve asked
"I have cigarette gum, it's flavorless, but it's better for you." I said
     "I'll take it." He responded
I tossed him a stick. I always have some with me, since I don't smoke. I have an extremely low tolerance to it, but I've learned to suck it up. "Come on, Sarah, it's late, we should go." I said
We got to my apartment and she slept on the couch. I started to cough a lot, before going to sleep. I just ignored it. Tomorrow is December first, Sarah's birthday.
