The surgery went well, they gave me a week to recover. They couldn't find the tumor, but they'll try again soon. The gang's come by to visit, here and there. I can go out today, since it's my eighteenth birthday. I immediately went to the Curtises. "Hey, guys!" I said, as I walked in
I was greeted by hi's and happy birthday's. Dally squeezed me and asked me "How long can you be out?"
"Till tomorrow." I said
"Perfect, follow me." He said
"Where are we going?" I asked as we walked out
"You'll see." He was smiling
I think I know what's going on. I hope I'm right. We walked to Buck's place. "I need to borrow his car, where we're going is too far to walk." He said
We got in the car and drove around for a bit. About thirty minutes passed and we made it to an open field, somewhere in the middle of nowhere. "Come on." He said
We got out of the car and found a nice shaded spot and sat down. "What'd we come out here for?" I asked him
"I wanted to ask you something. Stand up."
I stood up and he rearranged himself to where he was on one knee. I knew what was happening. I gasped. "Susan, I'm not for the gushy romance stuff, but, when we first met, I had barley any emotions, but ever since we started dating, I'm going to be honest, I felt different. And I like it, I want to keep it. Will you marry me?"
I was shocked. This had to be the best birthday I ever had! The ring was a beautiful plain silver one. "Yes, yes Dallas Winston, I'll marry you!"
He slid the ring on my finger as he stood up. I hugged him as tight as I could. We kissed, "I love you so much!" He said
"I love you too, Dallas!"
We kissed again, he hugged me for almost a full two minutes. Let's just say, we started making out. I suddenly started to cough. "You ok?" He asked
"I'm fine; should we go tell the guys?"
"Yeah, lets go."
We drove back, he held my hand the entire way the Curtises. We went inside. "Guys, we have great news!" Said Dally
"And what is this great news?" Asked Sodapop
I held up my hand, "We're getting married!" I was smiling so hard, my face hurt
We were both flooded with congratulations' and hugs. "Wait, you two are eighteen." Said Sarah
"So what, that's the legal age, ain't it?" I said
"You're right, congratulations, you two." She said
The night came, me and Sarah went home. I wrote to my parents, back in Georgia. I've told them nothing so far about my life in Tulsa. I know they might not like Dallas, I'm a good kid. Getting married at eighteen wasn't ideal, but what choice do I have?
I love him and I know he loves me. I want to do this before it's too late. I went to the post office and shipped off the letter. I came home. I went to sleep, I never thought that this would happen in a million years.
