"Playing bass!"
"But this time you have to teach me one of your songs!" I really wanted to kiss him, but I didn't know if he felt the same way. I still got to be with him though and that was enough for now.
I got my bass out and plugged it in and put the strap around my shoulder.
"We're going to learn Sugar We're Going Down!" Pete said, walking behind me and putting his arms around me.
"My favorite," I smiled.
"So, you're going to play Drop D first and hold that for 8 counts," Pete said. He slowly started showing me the song as his breath lingered on my neck.
"Yeah," I said so he understood that I was picking up and honestly I was. It was a fun song to play. It would just be so hard to focus if
"So you'll just repeat that for the verses and then for the chorus. And then for the pre chorus," he put my fingers along the 4th fret on the E string. He showed me the rest of that part.
"Okay, I think I got it!" It was fun that I was learning some of Pete's songs, I'd have to teach him some of mine. He went away from me and stood in front of me.
"Okay, you want to try playing it?" He asked, smiling brightly at me.
"Sure!" I said. He went to go grab his bass and plugged it into the speaker.
"I'll play with you," he said and I smiled.
We began to play and Pete even sang the lyrics. "Am I more than you bargained for you yet?" I began to sing along with Pete and he smiled at me.

Third person

Pete remembered writing those lyrics. It was about the person that Patrick warned him about. It reminded him of the dangers of relationships and how much they hurt.
"I'll be your number one with a bullet, loaded God complex cockeyed and pull it," we sang. I remember writing those lyrics, but they felt different now. I was with somebody different. I liked somebody different.
Mikey and Pete moved towards the chorus again with Mikey focusing on his bass and Pete focusing on Mikey's hands.
"We're going down down in an earlier round and sugar we're going down swinging," Mikey sang. His hands moved up and down the neck of the bass playing the song. Pete really liked him.
"I'll be your number one with a bullet, loaded God complex cock it and pull it," Pete sang as they finished the song up.
Mikey stood there smiling.
"You want to learn some more songs?" Pete asked, smiling at Mikey.
"Sure!"
"We can learn some of the songs off our set list, starting with Dance, Dance!"
They continued learning more songs, Pete occasionally coming over to help Mikey.

Mikey's POV

We finished up learning Saturday when Pete said something.
"There's one more thing that Gerard stopped us from doing," Pete said as he walked forward.
I realized what Pete was doing, he was coming to kiss me. He must've thought that I didn't want to because he began backing away. I took off my bass and set it on the stand
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't— I thought—" he said stuttering.
I cut him off by pressing my lips to his.
"Oh?" Pete smiled looking up at me. I was surprised with my boldness, but I had been waiting to do that and once I learned that he felt the same way I didn't want to stop. He eventually took off his bass and continued to kiss me.
His lips were soft and his breath was warm on my mouth. I smiled into his face and pulled away.
"I've been wanting to do that for a while," I said looking at Pete.
"I could tell," Pete laughed. "I have too."
"Well, we probably have to go for your show soon," I said sadly.
"What if you played with us!" Pete said brightly. "You know Sugar, We're going down, so you could come on stage for that."
"I'd love that, and when I teach you some of my songs you could come up to play with me!" We smiled at the idea.
"Okay, let's get going then," Pete said grabbing his bass and putting it in its case. I did the same. Before we left though I leaned over and kissed Pete on the lips as we walked out the door.
We walked out the door holding hands and headed over towards the stage. It was a quarter mile so it only took us about 5 minutes. I had his hand in one of mine and my bass in the other.
"You're so cute," Pete said, making me blush in response. He had this look of adoration on his face and I couldn't point out why he'd be looking at me that way.
Soon enough we got there and went backstage.
"Oh hey, Mikey," Joe said.
"Hey," I said to all of them.
"Mikey's going to be playing with us for one of the songs," Pete said smiling.
"Oh, that sounds fun," Patrick said smiling looking at Pete and me.
"Well our set starts soon so you can just plug your bass in," Joe said gesturing to the cords. I plugged in my bass and Pete plugged in his.
"So you can come on during Saturday, Dance, Dance, and Sugar We're going down. For now, though, you can just watch," Pete winked.
"Okay," I blushed mentally going over the bass lines again. I put down my bass, so I could watch them. I also didn't want to spoil the surprise.
"Hello Indiana," Pete said into the microphone. "How are you?" The crowd screamed back in response. "I think we can be louder than that," Pete said screaming and jumping. Joe began to play guitar followed by Andy and Pete.
"Brothers and sisters put this record down, take my advice," Patrick sang.
"Cause we are bad news," Pete sang along and began walking, or more accurately thrashing, around the stage. I smiled. Whenever he performed he had a sort of reckless energy to him that couldn't be held back by anyone. He was pure energy when he was on stage thrashing up and down. I admired that, I was the complete opposite. When I played I stayed more still and looked around at everything. The crowd, my band mates, and the sound of everything else. It all felt surreal when I was performing.
They finished up their song and I smiled, I'd be going up after their song, "Grand Theft Autumn/Where is Your Boy." Patrick started out just singing before all the instruments followed him.
When they finished the next two songs from their two albums Pete began to speak into the microphone and I knew it was my que.
"We have a special guest coming on stage with us," Pete gestured towards me. "Mikey Way from My Chemical Romance!" The crowd screamed.
I gave the crowd a wave and Pete gave me a smile.
I came on stage and played the beginning of Sugar We're Going Down and the others joined in. I walked over towards Pete and smiled at him. The crowd screamed back the lyrics with Patrick and they were possibly even louder than before. They screamed my name and the others, it felt exhilarating. Just playing with another band had a whole new energy.
Pete had the microphone in his hand. "Sing it Mikes!" he smiled at me.
"Troubled hearts, break a name," I went to the pre chorus. "We're only sleeping in cause we're sleeping," I sang.
"For the wrong team," Pete and I sang into the microphone together looking at each other.
We went into the chorus and Patrick began singing it louder. Andy was constantly moving his hands and Joe was moving up and down the fretboard perfectly. The song had finished and we moved onto Saturday. The rest of the show went like that. The band uses the crowds energy to play and me and Pete passed each other glances and smiles. It was so fun to play with him, I couldn't wait till after the show.
"Dance, dance, we're falling apart to halftime," Patrick sang and played on guitar.
"Dance, dance," Pete sang back to the crowd
"And these are the lives you love to lead," Pete and I sang and he smiled.
"Dance, Dance," we sang till the end of the song. I ended the set with one last strum of my bass. Pete smiled at me as we finished the song.
"Goodbye, Indiana," Pete screamed into the microphone as I waved goodbye.
We walked off the stage and as soon as we got to where the crowd couldn't see us Pete kissed me on the cheek.
"That was great," Pete mouthed to me was really good," Pete whispered to me. I blushed.
"You were a good teacher," I said to him smiling.
"Yeah, I guess," Pete blushed looking down.
"Nice job, Mikey," Joe said walking over to me.
"Thanks, it was fun to play," I said.
"It was fun to play with a bass player who wasn't constantly running into me," Joe said teasingly to Pete.
"Hey, the fans like it when I scream and jump," Pete said defensively.
I leaned into him, "Don't worry, I think it's cool."
"Oh get a room," Joe said.
"We will," Pete said suggestively. I shuddered. Joe walked away, clearly annoyed.
"C'mon, let's pack up," Pete said. We started to put our stuff away as Patrick came over to us.
"That was great Mikey!" Patrick smiled at me.
"Thanks, Pete taught me some of the songs when we were on the tour bus."
"You'll have to play with us more often." I agreed, excited about the new friendship.
