Chapter 1

I awoke suddenly and could feel my heart sink as I recalled what happened just a few hours ago...

Roman and I were currently standing backstage watching Chris Jericho's match. He seemed to be doing quite good since his return.

'' Mia? '' Roman whispered softly in my ear.

''Yes, Ro?'' I turned to stare into his grey eyes which were staring into mine with great urgency like he wanted to ask me something important but couldn't quite get the courage to.

''Rome, what's wrong?'' I asked while giving him a reassuring smile and wrapping my hands around the back of his neck, giving it a little squeeze, which seemed to work a bit.

''Okay look, while Chris and I were working out the other day he thought I needed to know something, at first I didn't believe him; maybe it was cause I was a bit in denial or just hoping that for my sake it wasn't true..''

I could see how much he was struggling to get the words out as he closed his eyes and ran his right hand through his long wet hair.

'' Ro, please just tell me what you want to tell me or ask me. Cause if you don't, I think I am going to spear it out of you and we know that would just result in me injuring myself and you laughing.''

I saw a hint of a smile but that was it, so I guess me trying to lighten the mood wasn't going to work . This had to be serious, normally this would be the part where he smiled brightly at me and kissed my forehead telling me how silly I was being.

''He told me he saw Paul outside his office last week questioning you on why you weren't wearing your engagement ring and obviously, Chris doesn't know about us but he thought since we had a storyline and travelled together and seemed pretty close that you would've mentioned something like that to me. Look the only reason I'm bringing this up at work is because I can't stand pretending like everything is fine for another minute. And because this way I can't lose my temper here at the risk of being suspended by your fucking 'fiancé', so tell me now what the hell is all this about? You told me you were done with him, done with Evolution romantically...''

He was so angry even though he wasn't showing it on his face. I couldn't say anything I was too stunned. I told Paul he was being reckless speaking to me at work where my sister could easily see us, but that didn't stop him.

He knew what he wanted, he wanted me and that's why he proposed and me? I've always been in love with him and I said yes not second-guessing, but I loved Roman as well. I could see him becoming impatient and I knew if I didn't answer soon he would be losing his temper and wouldn't really care about being suspended.

'' I am engaged to Paul and you are engaged to the mother of your child, yes I said I would stay away from him but it's pretty hard to do when his my sister's husband you know?''

I didn't mean to sound so cold. Like I didn't care but that was all I could think of saying, it was the only words I could put together. I figured getting into a fight with him would be better and then maybe he would dump me and there'd be one less dark cloud of lies in my life.

'' Is that really all you are going to say?''

I could see the hurt in his eyes.

'' What do you want me to say? That I don't love him? That he forced me into saying yes? That I wasn't thinking straight?''

'' No because we both know that would be a lie but he is married to your sister Mia ,did she happen to even cross your mind when that ring was shoved in your face? I know you envision this bright future between you guys and I know I ain't in that future. But you know the guy never leaves his wife for the mistress and think about this... He has the perfect life; CEO of the company, when your dad retires he'll be running everything. Do you really think he would give up all that because he 'loves' you? You do know that once your family finds out you might as well say goodbye to all of this babe. I bet the only reason he proposed was so he could be sure you would always be there when he feels bored!''
