The Intoxicating Affair

Chapter 10

Owen and I just arrived to the party. I'm wearing black jeans with black suade dress shoes and a white Ralph Lauren button up. I look pretty gay but since I'm walking in with Owen, people will probably just think I'm very professional. There were a fair few cars out the front. I was nervous, Owen held my hand.
"Gross, why are your hands so sweaty!" He spoke
"Shut up!" I replied as I rang the door bell. I could hear music inside. Julia opened the door and her face went from what looked like sad to happy.
"Julia! How are you?" Owen spoke as he gave her a kiss on the cheek and walked past.
"Hey" I spoke softly and she gave me a kiss on the cheek. Her perfume smelt amazing. Owen and I put our drinks on the table. His hand still holding mine. I admired Julia's dress. It was maroon red. It hugged her curves perfectly and her heels were black. She looked stunning.
"Owen!" Mike walked around the corner to shake his hand.
"Summer, how are you?" He asked me
"Yeah I'm good, yourself?" I asked
"Yeah great great! Just pop your drinks in the esky and mingle!" He replied. We were definitely the youngest 'couple' here. The kids were running around having fun. The music sounded like it was on a 70-80's playlist.
Owen and I sat outside around the table with some other people. There were over 20 people here. A lady sat beside me.
"Hi Summer, is it?" She spoke, I turned to her and shook her hand.
"Yeah" I looked at her confusingly.
"I'm Cathy, Julia's friend" She replied. I looked around for Julia and locked eyes with her. She was sitting next to Mike, listening to what looks like a boring convocation. Mike was laughing obnoxiously. I looked back at Cathy. She knows.
"I've heard a lot about you" She smiled as she sipped her wine.
"Good things I hope" I shifted in my seat nervously.
"Oh, all good" She smiled, I looked back at Julia who looked concerned as to what we were talking about.
"I haven't seen her look at anyone the way she looks at you in a very long time" Cathy spoke
"It's not what you think" I replied
"Oh?" She was confused
"She doesn't have feelings, it's purely a sexual thing" I replied.
"Aw is that what you think" She spoke, she raised her eyebrows as she took another sip.
"Why, what has she said?" I asked
"Oh she has said the same but I know when she's lying" She spoke, I looked at Cathy confusingly. Is she trying to say Julia feels more for me? Before I realised, Julia kneeled down between us both.
"Cathy, what are you saying?" Julia smiled as she sounded concerned.
"Nothing. I was just getting to know Summer more" Cathy smiled.
"She's cute" Cathy added, Julia looked up at me. Her lips were so big and luscious. What I wouldn't give to kiss them right now.
"Shots anyone?" Cathy stood. It broke our stare.
"I'm good thanks" I spoke. Cathy poured three shots. She took one and handed the other two to Julia and I.
"Drink it, drink, drink!" She yelled and Julia sculled the shot and made a disgusted face.
"I think you seem to forget I'm not twenty one anymore. I can't take shots these days" Julia spoke as she shook her head.
"I think you handled it well" I smiled, she nudged me. I took mine.
"Wow, you didn't even flinch" Julia spoke
"I can handle my alcohol that's why" I smirked
"Go again" Cathy spoke as she handed us both another one.
"If you make a face, you'll have to take another shot" Cathy stated. I took the shot first with no change in my face. I smiled at Julia. She took hers and looked at me. Her face barely changing but I knew she was struggling.
"Yes!" Cathy cheered Julia on.
"Ugh that's enough. I'm done, I'm done" She put her hands up.
"Yeah if I give you anymore, you'd be anyone's" Cathy joked
"Ha ha" Julia sarcastically laughed.
Owen was making conversation with a woman beside him.
"Who's that?" I asked Julia
"That's Lisa. Her husband works with Mike. I heard her husbands a dick though. From her. So if I were you I'd keep a close eye on them two" Julia winked. Is she suggesting what I think she's suggesting? I look back at them. Lisa seems around Julia's age and I know Owen's fantasy is to hook up with an older woman. He better not.
"Wow I need the bathroom. I'm seeing stars I think" Julia stood carefully.
"That's called drugs sweetie" Cathy joked, Julia shoved her.
"You okay?" I asked
"I'm good" She smiled as she walked off inside. I watched her.
"She might need help" Cathy smiled. I stood and followed Julia. She walked into the bathroom, as she went to shut the door she saw me. She pulled me in with her. She almost slipped.
"Woah careful. Those heels are big" I spoke
"I wore them for you" She replied, I raised my eyebrows.
"I wore these for you too" She spoke as she pulled up her dress and revealed her stay ups. I was immediately turned on. I tried to hold myself together.
"Don't you need to pee?" I laughed
"Oldest trick in the book" She smiled as she grabbed my hand and placed it on her thigh.
"Sneaky" I replied.
"Did you just lure me in here to tease me?" I spoke
"I was hoping you'd fuck me on this sink actually" She stated.
"Julia..." I whispered
"I can't... Way too risky" I replied
"Cathy has my back. Don't worry. She'll distract anyone who is looking for me" She replied as she unbuttoned my shirt slowly. Fuck it.
I picked her up and placed her on the sink and began fucking her. Her moans were getting louder and louder and I think she was too tipsy to even realise. I held one of my hands over her mouth. I could feel her tightening around my fingers. Her legs wrapped around my waist. My buttoned shirt was open and her hands were on my chest. I kept fucking her until she finally came.
"I just want to do this all night" She spoke, out of breath.
"I wish we could" I replied. I started doing my buttons back up when there was a knock on the door. Julia quickly got off the sink and pulled her dress down.
"Be out in a second!" Julia spoke.
"What if someone sees us walking out together?" I asked
"I got this" She replied. She opened the door and put her arm around me.
A lady was waiting.
"Sorry, I needed help. I drank too much, ssshh" She said to the lady, acting drunker than what she was. The lady smiled.
"Don't we all" The lady spoke. We walked out and Julia stood herself.
"Easy" She smirked
"You're amazing" I smiled.
We had a few more drinks and mingled. One by one people left. There were only a few still here. Owen, Cathy, Julia and I were in the kitchen chatting when Mike came in.
"Hey gorgeous" He spoke as he grabbed her from behind and kissed her neck. His hands were on her thighs. She looked at me. I was angry.
"Hi" She turned and pushed Mike off of her.
"Give me some sugar" He spoke as he started kissing her. I could tell she wasn't enjoying it. My instinct was to push him off of her. Which is exactly what I did. I grabbed him and pulled him off of her.
"Get off!" I spoke. He gave me an angry and confused look. The room went silent. Shit. What did I just do. Owen then spoke.
"Babe I'm right here! I think she thought you were me and I was the one kissing Julia. We look weirdly the same from behind" He covered up.
"See, thats Mike" He pointed
"Oh..." I mumbled
"Sorry Mike" I spoke
"That's alright... I'd be mad too if I saw a man getting it on with my wife haha" He laughed. I couldn't help but stare at him angrily. He gave her another kiss before walking out. I turned and walked out the front door.
The cold air of the night hit my face.
"Yo, what the fuck was that?" Owen spoke
"I fucked up Owen. I fucked up" I bent down.
"I covered for you, it's fine! I think he's too drunk to even notice what happened anyway" He spoke
"No not that... I fucked up with feeling the way I do. I love her" I stated
"Shit..." He replied. I held my head in my hands.
Julia walked outside.
"Are you okay?" She asked. I stood back up.
"Yeah I'm good. Just needed a minute" I replied. She walked over to me.
"What happened in there?" She asked
"I'm going to wait over here" Owen spoke as he walked towards the front door.
"This needs to end..." I spoke
"What do you mean?" She asked
"This, us" I replied
"Why? What's wrong?" She asked
"I've fallen for you Julia... And I shouldn't of. I told myself I wouldn't and when I saw him kissing you and touching you... I... Couldn't stand it" I explained
"Look. I can't stand it either... I can't but give me time" She spoke
"What do you mean time?" I asked
"I'm going to file for a divorce" She replied
"What! Are you insane! No way" I stated
"It's my life Summer. It's not just because of you. I haven't been happy in years! I need to do this for me" She explained
"What about the kids?" I asked
"I'm going to talk to them, together. I have a plan" She spoke
"Once everything blows over, we can be together" She added
"Are you hearing yourself?! You're going to divorce the man you once loved, break up your family all for a 25 year old! There's a fifteen year age gap between us. It's never going to work. You have kids... How do you think they would take their mother suddenly going from a man to a woman?" I snapped
"How do you know it's not going to work?! You don't know my kids, they're accepting and they love you!" She shouted. She was getting angry.
"I'm ending it, now. This is over" I spoke
"You're just going to give up... Just like that?!" She replied
"I'm doing this for you" I stated
"If you were doing it for me, you wouldn't walk away" She replied. I didn't reply. Just kept walking. Owen ran up to me.
"What are you doing?!" He asked
"Get me home" I replied. He didn't say anything else. I got in the car. I looked at Julia from the window. She was just standing there. Cathy walked out to her. I can see Julia talking. I then left and didn't look back.

I got home. I was numb.
"Did you want me to go home?" Owen asked
"If you want" I replied
"I'll call you tomorrow" He spoke before he left.
I peeled my clothes off, piece by piece. I got in the shower and sat down. Letting the warm water run over my face and body. I felt like I wanted to scream and cry but nothing was coming out.

It's been a couple days since Julia's party. I'm trying my hardest not to think about her or what happened. I have a huge guilt bubble over me. She hasn't messaged me or anything. I broke her heart as well as my own.

I got a coffee and walked to work. I wasn't feeling good at all. I don't know how I'm going to get over this. I just hope she forgives me one day.

It's been around 10 months since I last saw or heard from Julia. A lot has happened since. I went on a bender for the first few weeks. I got drunk a lot and Owen and I partied hard. I haven't had sex with anyone but I have hooked up with a few girls. None of them can compare though. I was walking home from work. It was a nice night. I love spring nights. I was walking with my earphones in and the world out. I was looking around while walking and saw Sophia. I took my earphones out. She ran up and gave me a hug. I gave her a hug back. I looked around but couldn't see Julia anywhere.
"Hey kiddo! What are you doing around here?" I asked
"Mums getting some Chinese take out and I thought I saw you. Howcome you haven't come over in forever?" She asked
"Uhh just your mum and I have very busy, seperate life's you know?" I replied
"I think my mum misses you... She's alone a lot now especially with dad not being around" She spoke. I looked at her confusingly.
"Where's your dad?" I asked
"They got a divorce" She replied
"Mum! It's Summer!" She added. I turned to see Julia. She looked just as shocked as I was. I felt like it's been years since I saw her but it's only been 10 months.
"Hi" I spoke
"Hi" She replied
"Can she come over for dinner?" Sophia asked
"Uhh..." Julia spoke before I interrupted.
"Oh I've got dinner waiting for me at home. Declious roast from last night" I smiled
"Ohhh" Sophia was sad. I looked at Julia who could barely look at me.
"Can you take this to the car please sweet?" Julia said to Sophia
"Okay, bye Summer!" She waved, I waved back.
"It's been a while" I spoke
"Ten months" She replied. Has she been keeping track too?
"You and Mike got a divorce" I stated.
"Yep" She replied
"When?" I asked
"Five months ago, the divorce was finalised. We sold the house and I have a new one, not too far from here. It's smaller which was hard to get used to but good. The kids have share care. Everything is smoother than what it was" She explained
"Wow" I was speechless.
"And how are you?" I asked
"I'm doing better. A lot better. At first it was hard but it got easier" She replied
"Hurry up mum!" Sophia yelled, Julia turned and looked at her then back to me.
"I better get going..." She spoke
"It was... Good to see you. I'm glad things are better for you" I replied
"You too" She replied as she walked away. I hated that she was walking away. I didn't want her to go.
"Hey Julia... Can we grab a coffee sometime?" I asked, she looked at me but she was unsure.
"Or not... I don't know" I added, scratching my head.
"No, that sounds good... I'll message you" She replied. I smiled. She smiled back and left. My heart felt happier than it has in months.
