The sun streaming through the window was so bright. My eyes took a moment to adjust to the light. I turned to my side where I saw Julia sleeping so peacefully. Her naked back out of the sheets, her big luscious lips... She looks incredible even while she's asleep. I gave her a soft kiss on the lips. She moaned softly and awoke. As soon as she opened her eyes, she smiled.
"Do you realise this is the first time we actually slept together? Like, actually sleep" I spoke
"Mmm hmm" She smiled.
I sat up and stretched and then I realised something off. There was no furniture in her room and her bed was just a mattress. No wonder it felt low when we fell onto it last night. I think she noticed the strange look on my face.
"You okay?" She asked as she sat up with me.
"Uhh where's your furniture?" I asked, she didn't answer me. She stood and wrapped herself in her silk dressing gown. I threw on my undies and shirt.
"Julia?" I added
"Shit" She spoke as she started pacing around the room. I was getting worried.
"Julia what's going on? Did you get robbed? Are you broke? What?!" I asked as I grabbed her.
"I'm moving" She spoke
"Oh... Okay.. Where you moving to?" I replied
"Interstate" She replied. I was a mix of emotions. Mostly confused and upset.
"W-What? When?" I asked
"Tomorrow" She replied. I sat down immediately.
"This is why I didn't want last night to happen... I didn't want you to have any expectations of what we could be or what is going to happen" She explained
"I didn't want to complicate things" She added
"When do you leave tomorrow? What about the kids? Why are you moving?" All these questions just started pouring out of my mouth.
"I got a promotion. That's the reason I'm moving and as for the kids, it will be share care still but Liam will be living here mainly and Sophia will be with me" She replied
"When do you leave?" I repeated my first question.
"Tomorrow at 6pm is my flight" She replied.
"The removalist is coming soon actually to pick up the rest of my things" She added
"So... I'm never going to see you again?" I asked, tears were forming but I kept my head down so she couldn't see.
"Never say never! I'll be coming back here occasionally.. We can catch up" She spoke but the more she was saying the angrier I was getting.
"I need to go" I stated as I put on the rest of my clothes.
"Don't leave... Please" Julia spoke as her voice cracked a little.
"You were right... This was a bad idea. A stupid idea... I would've never done this if I had known you were going to leave" I stated as I walked downstairs, she followed.
"I know! I know! I didn't want to for the same reason but I also knew you wouldn't have if I told you and I wanted you..." She explained
"This is bullshit" I looked her in the eye. Both of us had tears.
"Congratulations on your new job..." I tried to smile as I opened the front door.
"Summer..." She cried as I continued walking to my car.
"Summer!!" She yelled, I didn't look back. I got in my car and drove home. I got half way home where I pulled over. I smacked the steering wheel and started crying. My heart was hurting. Why was I hurting so much? I literally only saw her two days ago for the first time in five years and I have these strong intense feelings already? I feel worse than I did when I broke up with Mariana. I couldn't stop crying. I sat back and tried to control my breathing. I started to drive again. Once I got home I had a shower to wash away this shit feeling.Julia hadn't messaged me at all. It's only been a few hours but still. Who am I kidding, she's got so much to do before she leaves, I'd be the last thing on her mind. I called Owen. I'm going to regret it but I need to.
The conversation went as I thought it would. He started off with calling me an idiot followed by understanding my situation to sympathy.
"Are you okay?" He asked over the phone
"I don't know... I've never felt like this before" I replied
"What about Mariana?" He asked
"No... Never like this" I replied
"Wow" He spoke
"I know... It's fucked. I fucked up" I replied.
We spoke for an hour before he had to go out with his girlfriend. I was deciding whether I call Julia or not. Do I want to see her again before she leaves? Or would that just hurt me more?
I was watching a movie, The Notebook and eating my feelings when I heard the door bell. I swear to god if that's Owen, I don't think I could handle his energetic personality right now. I opened the front door to see Julia standing there. My eyes widened. I was also speechless.
"May I come in?" She asked. I moved out the way so she could come in. She put her bag down and she was holding a bottle of wine which she placed on the breakfast bar. It wasn't a hand bag either, it was an over night bag. I looked at her with confusion.
"You can say no.. but I was thinking... Since it's my last night here I would like to spend it with you?" She spoke
"What about being with Liam?" I asked
"I just was with him, he's fine... He will see me very soon but you... Maybe not so I want to soak up as much time with you as I can" She replied, I couldn't help but smile.
"This sucks... but I would really like it if you were to stay here with me on your last night" I stated as I grabbed her hands. She gave me a soft kiss.
"We're definitely going to need that wine though" I added, she giggled.
