Chapter 1: Encounter

"Siegfried, ano ba!" sigaw niya at pilit hinihila ang kapatid palayo.

"Wag kang makialam dito Athena, usapang lalaki to."

His brother throws a sharp look at her and to the man in front of them.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"Teaching this son-of-a-bitch a lesson!"

She can see how his brother is so angry now. His demeanor is ready for an attack and his face is red all over.

"Siege! Sumusobra ka na!" she shouted.

She's so piss at her brother right now. This doesn't happen once. Pang ilan na ba to? Pangatlo na. Why can't he leave her in peace!

Reynald is her current boyfriend. Pangatlo sa inayawan ni Siegfried. She doesn't understand why his parents are allowing her brother na makialam ng sobra sobra sa personal niyang buhay. Sometimes, gusto na niyang mag layas sa bahay if not only for her parents.

"Subokan mong lumapit ulit sa kapatid ko, at makakatikim ka na talaga sa akin."

"I love your sister! And no one can take her away from me!"

Sigfried throws a punch at Reynald's face. Sumadsad ito sa lupa at napasigaw si Athena.

"Stop! Stop! O God Stop! Siege please, stop this, stop this!!!!"

Athena is being hysterical at the moment. She's crying and her heart is aching at the scene she's witnessing.

"You! Son of a bitch! Not my sister! Over my dead body!!!"

"Really? Try me, brother! Try me!"

Nanlilisik ang mata ni Siegfried at ambang susogurin na naman si Reynald, when Athena hugged her brother from the back.

"Please, Siege, please, please, stop. I don't want this Siege. I don't want this. Please, umuwi na tayo, sasama na ako. Sasama na. Please, I can't forgive myself if makulong ka or worst makapatay ka. Please think of Mommy and Daddy."

Parang binuhosan ng tubig na malamig si Siegfried when Athena mentioned their Mom and Dad.

He slowly turned around and wiped his sister's tearstained face with his thumbs. He kissed his sister's forehead and clasped his left hand with her right hand, and in a cold voice said...

"Let's go."

"Athena!"

Reynald called her but Siegfried is adamant to get out of the place with his sister.

He opens the passenger side of the car, puts his hand in Athena's head to protect her from the roof of the car. He closes the door and went to the driver's side but before he does, he looks at Reynald with a sharp look that only if it could kill, Reynald wouldn't be breathing by now.

Inside the car as Siegfried turns the car engine on.

"Seatbelt, Athena."

Athena obliges, putting her seatbelt on. She is still crying. Ayaw niyang kausapin si Siegfried.

"Uminom ka ng tubig Athena. Wag mong sayangin yang luha mo sa lalaking walang kwenta!"

Patuloy sa pag hikbi si Athena.

Hindi niya pinapansin ang kapatid but a few minutes after, she saw him extending his hand to her with a bottle of water na dala nito sa sasakyan.

"Here. Uminom ka, please."

It still warms her heart. She knows how much her brother loves her but sometimes Siegfried is too protective na hindi na tama. Still kinuha pa din niya ang bottle of water at ininom ito.

Hanggang sa makauwi sila ng bahay nila wala ng usapang namagitan sa dalawang magkapatid.

As soon as the car stops, Athena unbuckles her seatbelt at nagmamadaling pumasok sa bahay.

Nasa sala ang parents nila—her Dad is playing the piano while her mom is hugging her father at the back.

It's always heartwarming to see her parents loving each other and taking care of each other, this way. Dideretso na sana siya sa taas when her Mom noticed her.

"Athena?" Her mom called her and her Dad stops playing the piano.

"Oh Athena, asan si Siegfried?" Her Dad asked.

Upon hearing her brother's name. Agad tumulo ang luha niya. Her mom went to her.

"Why are you crying Athena?"

Her mom meets her halfway and hugs her. In the arms of her mother, she pours everything. Her frustrations, and her pain.

"Anong nangyari Siegfried?" Her dad asked, and she knows her brother is already here.

"Nothing—Dad, Mom."

"You're lying Siegfried!" Athena answered back.

"Do you want Mom and Dad to know what you've been doing Athena?"

"Anong nangyayari Siegfried? Athena?" Her mom asked again.

"Wala bang sasagot sa inyong dalawa?" The authoritative voice of her Dad echoed.

"Did you know Dad and Mom that she is dating Reynald del Mundo?"

"Reynald del Mundo? The youngest son of Reynan del Mundo?" His father said.

"Yes. Mismo!" Siegfried said.

Maine gasps and looks at her husband feeling dumbfounded too.

"Athena? Is it true anak?" Maine cups her daughter's face and wipes the tears that are incessantly flowing in her eyes, down to her face.

"How long, Athena?" Her Dad interrupts.

"4 months..." Athena said in a whisper but all of them heard it clearly.

"At wala kang planong sabihin sa amin?" Her Dad in an accusatory tone.

"I am sorry, Daddy. I love him."

Maine and RJ look at each other with a worried face written all over them.

"What do you know about love, Athena? You must be joking!" A sarcastic reply from her brother.

"Stop it, Siegfried! Maine—love, Athena, you go upstairs. Siegfried, follow me at my study!" And the patriarch went to his study without saying another word.

Siegfried looks at his mom with no emotions and followed his Dad in his study.

"Let's go Athena." Maine guiding her daughter upstairs.

"Yaya Pepe, can you bring water in Athena's room, please."

"Sige, Meng. Isusunod ko." said Yaya Pepe with a worried look too.
