Chapter 3: Mission

"What is it that you've found this time, Siegfried?" RJ said as soon as his son arrives at his study. He gestures to his son to seat down.

Siegfried releases a big sigh.

"I just found out Dad, that Reynald is into drug dealing together with his older brother Reagan. Hindi ko lang sigurado if the father is involve too."

RJ's face froze and then horrified. There is fear on his father's face. Napakunot ang noo nito.

"Is that verified, Siegfried? That's a huge accusation, son."

"It is, 3 months ago, I got that bastard investigated. The file is in my office Dad. I can send it to you."

"If you have a soft copy of that file, please send it to my email."

"Okay Dad, I will."

"So, what happened awhile ago?"

"I am on my way to Concha's and when I am about to park. I saw that bastard picking up Athena, sinundan ko. They're heading north. I don't know where. They stopped at a gasoline station and that's where I revealed myself to them. Ang gago ng taong yon. I punched him, Dad. I just can't stand there watching him with my sister, especially sa nalaman ko. Over my dead body, Daddy! If it's the last thing to do to protect my sister...I would!"

"Even if it cost you your life?" his father asked.

"Of course! You would do the same with us, Daddy, right?"

"In a heartbeat, son. In a heartbeat." Rj sigh.

"Please take care, Siegfried. If that guy is into drug dealing that means there are guns and all the dirty works that comes with it."

"I know Daddy. But I am trained well with guns and physical combat. And I thank you for making sure I will know that at an early age. Though Athena can protect herself too, as much as possible I don't want her to engage in that kind of situation."

"Thank you, son, for taking to heart what I've asked you before—"

"To protect Athena? Of course, Daddy. I want you and Mommy to just enjoy. I will take care of Athena, most of the time nga lang ang tigas ng ulo eh—parang si Mommy lang. Ayaw magpa-renda."

"Young man! that's my wife and my daughter you are talking about."

"And that's my mother and sister, too, Dad. And I know that you knew what I mean."

RJ sigh.

"This is not going to do well with your Mom."

"Sasabihin ba natin?" he asked his father, worried of what might be her mom's reaction about this piece of information.

"We can keep this between the two of us, for now, Siegfried. I'll take care of your mother. Just please son, go easy with your sister. You will push her to the other side with the way how you handle things."

"I can't help it, Dad. I am sorry. Gusto ko na talagang patayin kanina yong lalaki na yon!"

"And gave your mom a heart attack? Is that what you want Siegfried?"

"Of course! No Dad!"

"Then, as much as possible. No violence, son. Let's plan this. I want that guy out of my daughter's life. Not my Athena, Siegfried. Not my Athena." RJ said with determination.

Siegfried knows that if his father is using that tone—he knows he is planning something on his mind.

He decided to take over managing their family business—so his Mom and Dad can do whatever they want to do. Spend time together, whether traveling or staying home. He knows for a fact that his parents endured so much when it comes to being away with each other. They've waited too long to be back in each other's arms, and he would want to give that luxury of time for his parents to be just with each other.
