He was watching tv and eating cereal when he got a text.

Rich: "see if you can get here before lunch. My mom wants you to eat with us"

"Sure, I'm omw"

Funny he said that because it was still going to take some good 40 minutes for that boy to get ready to leave his house. He wasn't planning on moving from that couch for a while, he was too busy watching random episodes of Regular show. That cartoon was his favourite thing to watch ever since he was a kid. The way they talked, the way the acted, just, the show in general made him who he was now. Specially the 'lazy, procrastionater, stoner teenager that tries to act cool and get girls' side of him. But he was happy with who he was, in his head he was super cool, like a rebel teen that doesn't give a fuck about anything. Let the boy live in his fantasy right? At least while he still can, once he becomes an adult it will be much harder for him to be that way and succeed.

After 15 minutes of watching tv he finally got up. He cleaned his bowl and left it drying on the counter. He heard the front door open and peeped outside of the kitchen.

"Mom?"

"Awake already?"

"Yup. Need help?" He looked at the poor woman holding five bags full of groceries.

"Yes please"

He grabbed three of the bags and took them to the kitchen. The mom took the groceries out and started putting them in the right places.

"So, why are you awake so early? Rich again?"

"Not really, I just fell asleep really early yesterday"

"Why? Were you tired?"

"I guess"

Maybe not physically but after that date he sure was tired mentally. It had drained his introvert battery.

"Anyways, what do you want for lunch? I bought lasagna, nuggets, we have some pasta left I think."

"Actually, can I go eat at Rich's today? His mom invited me"

"Oh sure baby! Make sure you behave yourself."

"I always do, mom"

He left the kitchen and went to his room to grab his stuff. He noticed he was still in his pajamas so he quickly grabbed some jeans and a hoodie. Once he was ready, he grabbed his phone and wallet and left the house saying goodbye to his mom.

He walked to the bus stop as usual but something felt off. He couldn't quite out his finger on it but he felt like he was forgetting something. Something important. Of course he brushed it off, being too lazy to try to figure out what it was.

When he arrived at the apartment, Rich's mom opened the door and smiled immediately when she saw him.

"James! It's so good to see you!" She looked at the tall boy and pushed him into a hug.

"Hi Mrs. Mathews. Thank you for inviting me today"

"Oh nonsense, you are always welcome in our house" She smiled and moved to the side so he could come in.
