Ochako is left there, sitting in her hospital bed in U.A., praying and hoping that he would come back through that door. "He has to–he's not gonna. This isn't real–he's gone. What just happened?" The uneasy feeling inhabiting her chest feels as if it's weighing her down into a lake of tar. So many emotions flash through her, she can't even begin to guess at which one is most prevalent. The only way she can think of herself right now is 'blurry'. She is blurry. A sound from the corner of the room gets through the fog in her mind.
"U–Uraraka?"
The voice is weak and wavering. After a second she identifies the voice to be Midoriya. Uraraka doesn't move her eyes from the fixed position on the blanket, but she manages to speak.
"...Yes?"
"W–Where am I?"
She painstakingly turns her head in his direction.
"...The nurse's office."
"Oh," he says in a way that indicates his memories were coming back.
He sits upright-ish in his bed and processes what happened. He remembers the fight and then, slowly but surely, he remembers the event preceding the fight. Mydoriya looks over at Uraraka. The emotions swirling around inside him are muted and confused by the pain meds. He notices that she's shaking, and with every passing second it's getting worse. "...Uraraka? Are you okay?" He is answered with an audible sob. She breaks down into a fragile puddle of tears. His eyes widen and out of instinct he tries to jump out of bed to go to her, but is slowed down by his soreness. Mydoriya shuffles over to Uraraka and stands over her. He slowly reaches his hand and places it on her head. He feels her soft auburn hair. She turns her head up to him which gives him a start.
"...D–Deku?"
"What's wrong?"
She can't answer. Tears flood her face and the misery overflows onto her pink cheeks. He gingerly sits down on her bed. Not forcing his comfort on her, but just letting her know that he's there. She wraps her arms around him and sobs into his chest. His arms hang awkwardly in the air for a few moments until they find their rightful place around her. He's deeply concerned and blushing furiously. "It's okay, shhh, it's okay." He whispers comforting words in her ear as he rubs her back. After a while the sobs turn into gentle sniffles, then only the sound of her breathing. "Is she asleep?" he mutters to himself. His face is bright red, but he tries to calm his racing heart. Slowly, he leans back in the bed with her, making sure that they aren't in any inappropriate position. "She must really trust me," he then tilts his head so he's looking right at Uraraka, "I promise I won't ever leave you." He continues to softly pet her hair as he closes his eyes. Underneath the fluorescent lights, Uraraka and Midoriya escape into sleep together.
Ten minutes pass by and a desperate figure passes by the window. His rough hands grip the doorknob and slowly pulls it open. He walks in and sees Midoriya and Uraraka holding each other, sound asleep. The heartbreak rips through his body, but he smiles. He walks over to her, kisses her on the forehead, whispers something in her ear, and then leaves for the second time that day. Although asleep, Uraraka feels his presence in her dreams, and when she wakes, the hollow feeling in her chest pangs. Uraraka looks down to see strong, scarred hands holding her tightly, and for a split second she thinks it to be Bakugou. But she recognizes the freckled skin to belong to Midoriya. Embarrassed at their current position she reaches up to brush the hair out of his face in an attempt to wake him. His green eyes flutter open and when he sees the brown ones staring up at him he smiles. Only an hour or two had passed but that time of rest allowed Recovery Girl's quirk to take effect. The two felt much better physically. Mentally, neither of them were doing too great. Especially Uraraka. They both sit there awkwardly, trying to find words that wouldn't come. Finally, Recovery Girl walks in and snickers seeing the two of them sitting on the same bed looking awkward.
"Had a little 'Sexual Healing'" Did we now children?
"WHAT?!" They yell in unison.
"Nonono it wasn't like that!" Midoriya stumbles through his words and just makes them look more guilty, so Uraraka joins in.
"We were just talking! I swear!"
"I'm just messing around," The nurse giggles.
Midoriya quickly moves from her bed to his and sits there paralyzed with embarrassment. And Uraraka slumps back into her pillow and sighs.
"...Soooo when do you think we'll be OK'd to go?" Uraraka asks timidly.
"You can leave whenever you want, but Izuku, you have to stay back and have a talk with the teachers about the nature of how you got injured. Young Bakugou will be there as well."
Uraraka flinches. Midoriya sees her reaction at hearing Bakugou's name and puts two and two together that something must've happened between them. He hates himself for the flicker of joy he feels. He hates seeing her in pain, but can't help but feel happy that they are having problems. Especially considering what had just happened between him and Bakugou. Uraraka weakly gets up and takes some borrowed clothes into the bathroom to get changed. Soon after she leaves, but not before smiling meekly at Midoriya. Recovery Girl walks toward him and checks his injuries. "You're free to resume normal activities, but just be wary of head collisions. The meeting is in three hours. Don't be late." After he gets ready, he thanks her profusely and leaves.
Three hours come and go and Midoriya and Bakugou meet with All Might, Aizawa, and Principle Nezu in his office. Not even once do the two boys glance toward each other. The tension in the room is suffocating and it seems to last forever. Nezu questions them and takes a report, and eventually the faculty comes to the conclusion to suspend both of the boys for one week. No medical bill charges on account of the school health care and no police involvement. They are dismissed and the teachers make sure that the students don't walk out together. The two of them go home and try to get on with things. Bakugou, Midoriya, and Uraraka all cry that night. That following week is the longest of Uraraka's life. Her two favorite people are gone, and the only thing that gets her through is the thought of her parents. She tries not to let her heartbreak interfere with her motivation, but it takes all of her energy to just get through the day. Uraraka convinces everyone that she is fine. Throughout the school day she appears to be her normal, happy, bubbly self, but on the inside the sparks that used to fill her are being snuffed out one by one...
*(Things are going to get really intense quickly in this story) (AND please remember this is NOT izuocha, this story IS kacchako. This is simply a drama arc type thing)*
Update: I am sincerely sorry about my horrible, inconsistent posting schedule. My health is really bad. It is nothing life threatening, and I will get better, but it will take a lot time. I think about the incredible support you guys give me and how patient you all have been. I swear to write and post whenever I can. I know the direction and ending of this story and have it all written down, so that is not a problem. It is just having the time and energy. Writing this makes me happy and makes me feel better so it's a priority for me. I never forget about you guys 💕💕💕
