The Barn Cats

The Roof

Shire is a black and Tan cat who lives in the moutains of Colorado, in a farm. Cody, another farm cat like her, lives in the hay covered farm with her, Cody's sister, Fern, is a litter, who's needed to stay in the farm with Cody's mother, Cow.

As the sun shown down onto the roof, heat waves warmed Shire's fur, a soft sweep of wind ruffeled the trees and the housefolk called for Shire, but she ignored him. Suddenly a cats paws trotted on the back of the roof, "Hi, Shire," she turned around to see Cody. "Hi Cody, Where's Fern?" she said. " What, Fern?" said Cody. " She's sleeping with Cow." He said. "Yesterday was tough with escaping from those workfolks." "Yeah, she got chased hard." Shire said. "Well,  I'm hungry going to go fetch something, because our other food is disgusting." Shire said. "I'll come, too." said Cody. So Cody and Shire climbed down and padded across the dirt road, "Look over there, Shire a rabbit," said Cody. "Yeah, shhh, let's go." said Shire. Cody quickly trailed around the houses and crawled in the long grass about two tail lengths away from it, Shire watched Cody close, making sure that no workfolks tried or caught them, the only reason they would is that, these were the workfolks rabbits. Cody suddenly sprang and pounced on it pawing it. Cody picked it up and padded over to Shire. "Good catch." said Shire. "Let's go catch some fish."
