"Can you keep a secret?"
It was a question that caught you off guard. You were just laying in your bed, phone on speaker next to you, as you stared up at the tacky glow-in-the-dark stars on your ceiling. You were thinking about how much you missed your dorm room, your roommate, your clubs, and most importantly, your boyfriend.
If you had known that you wouldn't be let back on campus after leaving for spring break, you would've kissed Patrick a little longer.
Being stuck in your house sucked. You missed everyone and being free to be outside. The only thing that brought you joy was your phone calls with Patrick.
"Well depends, what kind of secret?" You said slowly. Patrick's chuckle was heard through the phone.
"I miss you...a whole lot, and it kind of scared me." He confessed. You could feel your heart flutter in your chest at the words.
You met Patrick at a party the week before your sophomore year started. You didn't necessarily want to be there and neither did he. You two clicked instantly and after dating for 5 months, it scared you too how strongly you felt for him.
"(Y/N), I really hope that didn't weird you out, 'cause you've gone all quiet on me." Patrick laughed nervously. You blinked and turned to the phone, holding tightly in your grip,
"I-I'm still here and not weirded out," You assured him. "I just...it's a little surreal to know that we're on the same page."
Patrick let out a sigh of relief and dropped his head against his navy blue pillow. He turned to face his window, looking out at the actual stars illuminating the night sky.
"You know, I'm gonna have to beg my parents to update my phone plan with all the minutes I'm spending by calling you." He snickered. He heard your breathy laugh from the other end of the phone and a light blush appeared on his cheeks.
"We can always write letters," You teased. "The anticipation of waiting for the other's reply is like some serious foreplay."
A large smile threatened to tear your face in two as Patrick's adorable laugh filled your ears.
"I can't wait to see you again." He spoke as he regained his breath.
"Ditto." You replied, heat rushing to your face. "Wanna have a Netflix Party? We can watch whatever you want."
"...We're watching the Great British Bake Off and that's final." You chuckled lightly and pulled out your laptop. Shit, looks like you were really starting to like this kid. Soon you'd even be able to say you love him. Patrick thought the same thing as he sent you the Netflix Party link.
But for now, you were both content with fluttering hearts and blushing faces over the phone.
