Chapter 31

I sighed contently and rested my head on Derek's shoulder he brushed a hand across my hair and kissed the top of my head lightly. We were inside my former university campus sitting on a lush green lawn under a tree lazily watching the sun rise over a large decorative pond, the water sparkling placidly as it gently rippled. In a place like this you could all but completely ignore all the buildings around you and forget where you are there is such an overwhelming sense of peace here. The morning was so early we didn't have to worry about being disturbed we had passed the stumbling home time and wake up time even for early risers was still a long way off, which was a relief as Derek was only wearing a pair of jeans (Daniels I'd 'borrowed' them as we scampered out of the factory). Derek's fingers lazily continued to sweep across my skin gently, I knew he was doing the protective mate thing and checking me for injuries but the gentle physical contact was making me purr under my breath.

"I love you." I whispered,

"I love you too." He said nuzzling into the top of my head I closed my eyes and savoured the bright warm golden light of the sunrise which was still visible to me behind my closed eyelids.

"Jessica." A loud voice snapped out. I growled and nuzzled down into Derek's warm chest. "Jessica." He snarled,

"Maybe if we are really still he'll go away." I whispered. Derek laughed and kissed the top of my head.

"Move your asses." Dean snapped

"We saw our sunrise." he whispered "it's time to go home we have to stop running baby."

"But I love you."

"I know baby." he said rubbing his nose deeply into the top of my head as if savouring my scent, "but it's time to go."

"Jessica Emily Marie."

"Dean your not my father so the middle name thing doesn't work for you." I snapped sighing I pushed myself up to my feet. Dean gave a pleasurable type purr as his eyes swept over my body clearly revelling in the fact that I was wearing only a battered torn up pair of jeans and a bra. Derek growled loudly and I gave him a playful nudge with my hip. He sighed and slowly wincing he began to push himself up to his feet. I gripped his hand and helped him up. He smiled and tried to ignore my help but the pressure he put on my arm showed how much he was hurting. I had ripped up my shirt to wrap around Derek's various wounds before we had curled up together to await the sunrise. The wounds were still bleeding and had completely soaked my makeshift bandages but Derek would live he was tough. As he got to his feet I wrapped my arm around his waist I wouldn't be much help to keep him up but I could help a little as I felt his muscles tremble from the effort of simply straying upright.

"You didn't try to run." Dean said looking from me to Derek his expression seemed honestly puzzled.

"We weren't trying to get away." I said lightly,

"What about you?" he asked looking at Derek. Derek snorted at Dean's dismissive expression," Then why this?"

"I promised."Derek said kissing the top of my head. "But it's time to go home now."

"Your not going to fight." Derek laughed and shook his head,

"No Dean. I'm done with that." Dean gave him a look that looked half sad and half disgusted.

"Where's my father?" I interjected hoping my diversion would mean Derek wouldn't notice that expression,

"He's on the way home. He said to come get you."

"Just you?" I asked he nodded I frowned,

"Wasn't he afraid of what I'd do to you?" Derek asked in an unpleasant tone damn he had noticed.
