After that first match, everyone was excited to see what the young fighter had in store for the rest of the tournament.
The other fighters had even started asking her questions, shocked by her strength. Garou, however, grew impatient. After seeing how brutal and swift Kaana can be, he wanted to fight her even more. So, when his match was up, he didn't waste any time with his opponent.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Garou had simply judo chopped his opponent in the neck, effectively rendering him unconscious, "Knock out!! Garou wins!!" Half of the audience booed while the other half cheered. Again, Garou didn't care, as he wanted to fight Kaana and not these clowns. He strolled on back to the entryway, where some of the other fighters were waiting.
Kaana, stood there, shaking her head and smirking, "You're that impatient, huh?"
"You can tell?" he raised a disinterested brow.
Kaana just giggled and replied, "It's nice to know that you look forward to fighting me, but you better not go easy on me, you hear?"
Garou gave a smirk, "Same goes for you, too. I want to see everything you got."
And the tournament proceeded that way. Other fighters taking each other out, the two friends spending their time separately until their matches came up.
~
Kaana was sitting at the end of the corridor, meditating until her next turn. She thought about her first match with Aia. Had she gone too far? Was it appropriate, what she had done?
Kaana wasn't entirely sure, but a small part of her wanted to do just a bit more, but knew that it would make her no better.
Suddenly, she felt a presence in front of her and she opened her eyes. Garou was standing there, hands on his hips, gazing down at her, "I can practically hear your thoughts a mile away. What's going on?"
Kaana gazed back silently before asking, "Did I go too far?"
"If you're talking about what you did to that bitch, then no. You gave the right amount of ass kicking that she could take while teaching her a lesson. If it were me, I'd have scared her a little more, but that's just me," Garou shared, giving that wolfish grin that Kaana liked. It always made him seem more cocky, but Kaana found it kind of cute on him. Not that she'd ever tell him that.
Kaana smiled, somewhat relieved and a bit amused by his opinion as she stood up, "Thanks."
"By the way, you're up," Garou said suddenly, pointing behind him. Kaana panicked and shoved him as she rushed pasted him, "Why didn't you say so, in the first place?! You Jerk!"
Garou just gave a small laugh as Kaana rushed out, watching her hair sway as she ran. Teasing her was always so easy and he enjoyed her cute reactions. He missed doing that.
~
'What's wrong? Afraid to get your feet wet, princess?' Garou laughed.
Kaana sat at edge the creek, watching him as he caught fish, 'No! I just don't feel like getting wet! Besides, you're the one that's supposed to get the food today!'
'This little outing was your idea. I'd say that means you need to pick up some of the slack,' Garou decided that he was going to bend lower and splash some water at her. Kaana yelped and scooted back, nearly falling backwards as she did not want to get wet. Garou chuckled at her reaction.
Kaana snarled at him for a moment, but then smirked before waving her left hand in a flicking motion. Suddenly, Garou was smacked in the side of the head by a large stream of water and was knocked flat on his ass. The water was only ankle deep, but the splash had completely drenched the Hero Hunter.
Garou, completely blindsided by that, sat there stunned, blinking a few times before he heard Kaana. Looking her way, he saw her laughing. Her laughter was angelic to him, and it made his heart race, instantly thinking about how cute she sounded. When she made eye contact with him in her fit of laughter, Garou found himself starting to laugh along.
~
Remembering small moments, like that, made Garou smile in nostalgia, but then frowned. He wished it were as easy, now. Things had been so awkward between them the last few years, only now were things starting to feel normal again. Maybe, he shouldn't had distanced himself from her.
"Winner!! Kaana is going to the next round!!" Garou heard this and walked towards the entryway, only to see Kaana standing there on the platform, an unconscious fighter at her feet.
Kaana turned and started her way back while the paramedics took another fighter out on the stretcher.
As soon as Kaana got closer to Garou, he asked, "What'd you do to him?"
"What, you weren't watching?" Kaana, surprisingly gave a teasing smirk, "That's awfully mean of you. You'll just have to guess, then."
She walked passed him, leaving Garou to wonder, but smirked at her light playfulness.
Just then, a Martial Artist, wearing a militia based Gi, walked up to the platinum blonde, "What's with you two?"
"Hm?" Garou turned toward this man. This man had dark hair that stood up on end, pale skin and onyx colored eyes, "What?"
"You two are flirting like teenagers. It's disturbing," the man commented, "You two know each other or something?"
Garou frowned at this guy, "Who's asking?"
"The name's Cho, I follow Thunder Thunder Fist," Cho smirked, raising a hand and letting a small surge of electricity flowed along his skin.
Garou's eyes perked at this, "Didn't one of you guys become a monster not too long ago?"
Cho's expression immediately soured, "Boltane, the weakest of us. I'm here today to redeem our dojo, for his actions dishonored us. I'm actually going to be fighting your girl in the semifinals. Such a shame, she's really cute. Too bad I'll have to mess her face up a bit."
His eyes had widened, his pupils shrinking, making his gaze even more maddening. Garou suddenly felt his blood pressure spike and his nerves tensing at the mention of Kaana getting hurt, especially by this guy who showed no remorse. His beast inside awoke, now screaming to tear this man apart. Garou refrained, though, clenching his fist and his knuckles popping.
Cho seemed to notice, "What, did I strike a nerve? Don't worry, I won't hurt her too bad. If she's as good as she seems, she won't go to the medical bay."
Cho, with a chuckle, then turned to walk away, Garou was now snarling quietly.
"Garou," Kaana's voice snapped him from his mindless rage for a moment and seeing her seemed to immediately calm him down, "You're up."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"Round 2, Garou versus Bazuzu, a former participant of the 22nd Super Fight! His fighting style is Nuclear Explosive Fist!!"
Bazuzu, a burly looking man with a Mohawk smirked cockily at Garou's slightly smaller form, "This is the notorious Hero Hunter? Don't look like much, to me."
Garou just stood there, unimpressed with this guy as Bazuzu chuckled.
"BEGIN!"
"I'm gonna take you down easy!!" Bazuzu charged at Garou, "Take this!! Nuclear Explosive Fi--"
When the punch was about to land, Garou caught it easily, causing a shockwave. Bazuzu stood there, sweating in nervousness and shock, "W-What the--?"
Garou then twisted his fist, causing a sickening crunch to sound out. Bazuzu was easily reduced to a crying mess, now on his knees as he flailed his free hand around, "IGIVEIGIVEIGIVE!!" he screamed out.
Garou released him as the man cried, now curled in a fetal position, holding his broken wrist.
"Win by tap out! Garou is headed to the semifinals!!" again, there was still some booing, but it was slowly being outweighed by more cheering fans. It was clear he was starting to win the crowd over. Bang and Bomb, who had been watching from one of the Judges tables by the stands, far from the platform, just simply shook their heads.
"Garou still lacks patience, doesn't he?" Bomb sighed, "I'm just thankful that Kaana is not that brutal."
Bang just simply nodded in agreement.
Kaana smiled at how easily Garou finished the match. As Garou walked back towards the remaining fighters, Kaana remarked, "Nicely done."
Garou didn't respond, but gave a subtle nod.
Cho, who was watching, jeered, "He ain't interested, sweetheart! You're not going to charm your way into winning!"
Kaana briefly looked the man's way before returning to Garou, "Was he strong, at least?"
"Hardly," Garou responded, "This is why I hate tournaments."
