Things slowly started to come to ahead. Routine, comfort and just peaceful living. Well, except for the monsters.
To Garou, that was the routine. Wake up, do his morning routine, make breakfast for Kaana, go to the dojo, then stop in the city to pick up Kaana's current food craving before heading home. Half the time on the journey home, he'd run into a monster or two. For him, it was a nice way to let off some steam after a long day. This was his norm.

Garou's internal alarm clock had him up at the same hour as every morning. He sighed deeply as he turned over, only something didn't feel right. Tiredly opening his eyes, he saw that the spot where Kaana would be sleeping, was vacant. He sat up, more alert and very puzzled as to where she could've gone and why was she up before him. She's never up before him and for good reason since she was pregnant.
He tried not to worry, but he did want to reassure himself that she was alright. Garou threw the covers off and, only in his sweatpants, went downstairs.
As soon as Garou got downstairs, he was greeted by the aroma of breakfast being cooked, "She better not be making pancakes. She knows she can't eat those..." Garou muttered to himself as he walked towards the kitchen, "Kaana, what are you--" he stopped.
Kaana, wearing an apron around her plump 24 week belly and standing over the stove, turned to look over her shoulder.
Kaana greeted him with a bright smile, "Good morning. Did you sleep well?"
Garou was kind put off by her unusually upbeat attitude, "Um, yeah. What are you doing up so early?"
"I wasn't very tired, actually. Plus, I wanted to do something nice for you," Kaana then turned around, holding two plates of bacon, ham, sausage and eggs, "Why don't you have a seat at the table? We can eat together."
"I need to get dressed before--" Garou started, but Kaana cut him off by kissing him on the cheek.
"I called Bang and asked him to give you the day off today, so don't worry about that," Kaana placed the food on the table, "I'll get us some tea."
As she turned to walk back to the stove, Garou stood there, blatantly confused. He felt like he had stepped into some sort of sitcom. Kaana was acting very...affectionate. Not to say that she isn't affectionate with him, but it was as though she was going out of her way to pamper him. She was acting like a housewife, almost.
Trying to grasp the situation, he slowly went to sit at the table, cautiously watching Kaana. As he sat down, he noticed a package sitting on the table, wrapped in brown paper.
'Okay...What is happening, right now? Did I miss something?' Garou was really trying comprehend what was going on when Kaana walked over with two cups and the teapot on a tray.
Kaana poured his tea, first, then hers before setting the teapot down. Kaana sighed heavily as she took a seat. That's when Garou finally spoke up, "What's going on?"
Kaana was a bit puzzled by his question, "What do you mean?"
"All of this," he gestured to the food, the tea and the package on the table, "You also never wake up early just because you feel like it. Why are you acting so strangely?"
Kaana then looked a bit shocked, "Do you not know what today is?"
Garou then felt put on the spot and he instantly grew nervous, "Is today...important?" he was really hoping he didn't forget something. If he did, that would mean the start of a whole other issue.
"It's your Birthday, Garou," an awkward silence came between them. Garou blinked at her incredulously, "My--" and looked at their calendar hanging on the wall. It wasn't marked, but the day was on, in fact, his birth date, "I guess...it is."
"Garou, you forgot your own Birthday? I know you don't celebrate it, but surely you wouldn't really forget," Kaana eyed him carefully, "Right?"
Garou looked at her, then turned his gaze away, "The last time I celebrated...was with my mother. Can't remember how old I was, but it was a long time ago."
Kaana frowned at this information. She knew that he never celebrated it, mostly because it was due to bad experiences. She had hoped that he would try to change that, but maybe he needed some reminding.
"How did you find out, anyway? I never told you my Birthday," Garou found himself asking her. Kaana gave a light blush, "I asked Bang. I wanted to surprise you; give you a nice day."
Garou couldn't stop himself from blushing lightly, as well, "You didn't have to do that."
"I wanted to," Kaana stood up, briefly supporting her belly before placing her hands on Garou's shoulders. She stood behind him, "I love you and I wanted to do this for you. I even got you something."
Kaana grabbed the package and placed it in his hands, "Open it up."
Garou eyed the package, turning it over with a bit of a innocent wonder in his eyes. Silently, he ripped the paper off and stopped when he saw what it was, "An almanac?"
"Yeah! It's one on Carnivores. I thought that might interest you," Kaana beamed. Garou continued to eye the book, remembering his times as a child in the park. He'd be reading almanacs, similar to this. Books were his only comfort as a child, seeing as no one wanted to be his friend. He put the book down and tilted his head back over the backrest to look up at his love, "Thank you," he gave a genuine smile.
Kaana smiled fondly at him, finding his expression of gratitude warming, and cute. She leaned down and planted her lips on his. When they pulled away, Kaana was still smiling, "This day is about you. Whatever you want to do, just let me know."
