Two days had passed since Daichi was born. Thankfully, Hitomi had gotten their power back on and the snow finally stopped. The circuit breaker didn't have as much damage as they thought. Since that was the case, Hitomi was able to repair any damage quickly. The following night, Hitomi had gone home, but was on call in case there were any issues.

Kaana was lying in bed, wearing a tank top with one sleeve down while Daichi nursed. So far, Daichi proved to be a very quiet baby, but when he wanted attention, you were in for an earful. He was also extremely clingy, even for a newborn. Kaana didn't mind it, though, as she enjoyed just cuddling her new son. Meanwhile, Garou was outside, shovelling snow, trying to make a pathway. Given that it was Christmas and they had the baby, Kaana's family had made a point to wanting to come and visit. Master Bang and Master Bomb were also coming by as Kaana had called them the day prior and told them that she had the baby.
Garou finished shovelling and went back inside to make some food for them. Kaana was still nursing and, not to mention, still in a lot of pain.
Kaana was still in bed with Daichi when the sliding paper door slowly opened up. Garou was standing there, holding a plate of food for Kaana, "Coming in," he shut the sliding door.
Kaana smiled upon seeing him, "Thanks for making breakfast."
"It's fine," Garou placed the plate on the bedside table before turning his attention to Daichi, who was still nursing, "He's still eating?" He sat in the bed beside her.
"Yeah," Kaana gazed fondly at Daichi, who seemed to be staring up at her intensely as he lazily suckled, "I think he's more distracted with staring at me than actually wanting to eat. Can he even see me clearly?"
Garou sat closer her, smirking as he watched his son, "Looks like I got some competition. Never thought my own kid would try to snatch you away from me."
Kaana gave an eye roll accompanied with a smirk, "You'll just have to learn to share me."
Garou smirked playfully, "Not a chance," he nuzzled and nipped at her neck, making her giggle and nearly squirm as he was tickling her with his antics.
Daichi, who had been watching, didn't seem to like that his father was taking his mother's attention away from him. He gave a loud grunt in protest, which made it sound like he was going to cry. This effectively made Garou and Kaana pull away from each other, their questioning gazes now on Daichi. Daichi's little eyebrows were knit together as he stared at both of them, suckling more intensely than before.
Garou gave the infant an odd look, "Is he glaring at us?"
Kaana couldn't stop herself from laughing at her son's reactions, "He definitely takes after you; getting jealous over me."
"This kid..." Garou shook his head in faint disbelief, "He's going to be glued to your hip."
"I wouldn't mind that. He's too cute," Kaana beamed.
Garou decided to just let it go. Daichi's a newborn, so he's going to need all of the attention anyway. There was no use getting jealous over his own son. Soon enough, Daichi's eyes started to droop close. His intense suckling slowed to a complete stop as he fell asleep.
Garou chuckled at seeing his son passing out, "Must've finally got his fill."
Kaana gently unlatched Daichi from her breast, wiping at his mouth, "When is everyone coming over?"
"Later. It'll give us time to clean up, at least," Garou relayed to her.
"Good. After having him, I need a shower in the worst way," Kaana sighed. Then, her stomach growled loudly, and she blushed.
Garou chuckled again, "Maybe eat your food, first. You're going to need the nutrients if you're feeding any kid of mine."
"Ain't that the truth," Kaana chuckled, as well. In turn, Garou took Daichi from her, that way she can eat her food in peace. However, Kaana noticed as she was starting to eat that Garou was still holding Daichi when he could've just put him back in the bassinet.
"Garou, don't you want to relax? Daichi's asleep, so you can put him in the bassinet," Kaana suggested.
Garou just brushed it off, "I'm fine."
"But you've barely slept. You've been doing everything the last two days while I've been stuck in bed," Kaana pointed out, "I don't want you to wear yourself out."
Garou grumbled at this. Kaana was right, though. He'd been keeping up with the house, cooking and such while Kaana was stuck in bed, recovering and caring for Daichi. He'd even stay up during the night the last two days in case Daichi needed anything. Kaana quickly noticed this after the second night, when she caught Garou just sitting on the edge of the bed, keeping watch over the bassinet. She didn't say anything to him about it, but she wasn't going to let him run himself into the ground.
"Garou, please. While I'm in the shower, just try to, at least, take a nap. For me?" Kaana pleaded. Garou stared at her for a moment before sighing in reluctance, "Alright, fine. I'll try to get some shut eye."
Kaana gave a thankful smile, "Thank you. Why don't you start by putting him down?"
Garou looked down at Daichi, who was peacefully asleep. Kaana can tell how hesitant he was to put him down. She found this endearing, as it showed how much Garou already loved his child, but it was also frustrating since he wasn't listening.
"Garou," Kaana drew out sternly. Garou finally relented, begrudgingly standing up and going to put Daichi in the bassinet. As soon as he did, Garou lingered to make sure his son didn't stir from the lack of contact, before sitting back down.
"He'll be fine in the bassinet. Just try to relax a little," Kaana tried to reassure him.
Garou just slumped against the pillows, glowering like always, "It's hard to just leave him be. My every nerve has been on high alert since he's been born. I don't want him out of my sight."
"You're protective of him. I get it, but he'll be fine. You need as much rest as I do, this new responsibility falls on both of us. We both need to be at our best for him," Kaana told him. Garou, first gazing at Kaana before turning his gaze back to the bassinet. His frame seemed to relax a bit and he finally spoke, "I guess, you're right."
Kaana was relieved that Garou finally understood. Hopefully, he'll actually take a nap. So, when Kaana finished all of her food, she slowly, and painfully, made her way to shower.
When the hot water hit her skin, she hummed happily, her body slowly relaxing under the hot jets. She really needed this, right now. Yes, Kaana was cleaned up after giving birth to Daichi, but she was in so much pain the first two days that she couldn't get out of bed to fully freshen up. Hitomi had even stated that she was surprised that Kaana didn't have any tearing from how hard she was pushing. Plus, Daichi was a big baby as predicted, so that was also a factor working against her. It was no wonder she was hurting so much.
She was just glad that Daichi didn't have any post issues relating to the difficult delivery.
Then, there was Garou. Kaana frowned to herself in worry. She really couldn't thank him enough for taking care of things while she recuperated. However, she was worried about him overdoing it. She understood that all he wanted was for her and Daichi to be safe and cared for, but she felt he was being a tad paranoid. She just hoped that he'll take it easy, now.
Kaana finished her shower and got dressed into comfortable clothes; black yoga pants, and a black, silk tank top. With a towel around her shoulders, she made the less painful trek back upstairs.
