"I can't believe today is the day!"Lucy exclaimed as she put her shoes on and grabbed her school bag. She finally was able to transfer to Fairy Tail Academy, a college she had always dreamt of attending. It was quite prestigious, and Lucy had studied for months to take the entrance exam alone. The blonde smoothed out her outfit in the mirror one last time before walking out the door and locking her new apartment.
"God I hope this day goes as I had always hoped..." She whispered to herself as the large school became visible in the distance. The walk to the school wasn't far from her new apartment, and Lucy didn't mind the exercise.
Slowly, however, she began to notice two guys following her as she neared the school. The blonde clenched her bag and tried to act as normal as possible in hopes they wouldn't talk to her.
M-maybe I'm just being paranoid?
Lucy stopped walking as she felt a rough hand caress her shoulder, her eyes widening with terror.
"Hey man, she's one of those brats from that Fairy Tail school...I bet her family's loaded." One of the men said, looking at Lucy's bag with the Fairy Tail logo on it.
"I bet you're right...it's also a plus she's so cute." The man replied as Lucy turned around.
Should I try to make a run for it...? What if they catch me and do something worse than what they might do now... The blonde thought as the men trapped her into a corner by an alleyway.
One of them grabbed her wrist roughly and forced her to drop her bag. "S-stop..." She said quietly as a tear escaped her eye.
"Oh, you're gonna cry now?" The other man laughed as he grabbed her head and shoved Lucy to the ground. "That just makes this more interesting for us."
Suddenly, as if her pleas had been answered, a figure came up from behind the men. "Wanna tell me what you guys are doing back here?" The stranger asked sternly.
"...Clearly, that's none of your business kid." The men turned around to face a boy with salmon colored hair.
"Well I'm gonna make it my business!" The boy shouted angrily as he punched one of the guys in the jaw and the other in the chest. Both flew to the floor, laying unconscious on the pavement.
Lucy looked up at the boy who saved her with awe, her vision blurry with tears. The salmon haired boy held his hand out for Lucy to grab and helped her stand back up.
"T-thanks for saving me..." The blonde said quietly, tears still rolling down her face.
"It's...no problem...really. Those guys deserved it." He scratched the back of his head. "Please don't cry anymore..."
He lead her away from the alley and to a nearby bench. They both sat down as Lucy wiped her eyes.
"My name is Natsu, and you are...?"
"Lucy. Lucy Heartfilia."
"Are you new around here? This is my second year at Fairy Tail and I've never seen you there before." Natsu asked, noticing the emblem on her bag. Only students from the school could get that specific bag.
"Oh! Um yes, I just moved here to Magnolia since I got accepted to Fairy Tail, today is supposed to be my first day." The blonde looked down at her lap. "Although...this wasn't how it was supposed to go..."
"Wanna walk with me the rest of the way?" Natsu stood up and signaled in the school's direction.
"Please, that would be great actually." The blonde stood up as well and the two began walking towards the school. "Thank you again for saving me."
