Chapter 14 ♡: Lucy's Father

"That everything?"

Natsu finished loading his car with Lucy's bags.

"Yeah, should be." Lucy climbed in into the passenger seat. "I think I'm ready."

"You sure? You don't look so good." Natsu asked as he hopped in the driver's seat, turning the car on.

"Yeah. Just a long road-trip to see my terrible father who may or may not try to marry me off..." Lucy leaned her arm against the arm rest. "I'm just anxious to see what this is about."

"It'll be okay, Luce, don't sweat it. I'll be there with you the whole time." He flashed a grin at her before starting to drive.

The drive was fairly quiet, and several hours long. When they finally arrived at the estate, both Lucy and Natsu were exhausted. After all, they had woken up early that morning to get to the estate by noon.

"Well, here we go." Lucy said as she reluctantly got out of the car.

As they walked up to the main doors, one of the family's butlers walked out to greet them. "Lady Lucy, it's been so long! I'm glad you could make it."

"Thanks, good to see you as well!" Lucy gave a wave.

"The master is in his main office, you are to meet him there." The older man opened the door to let them in.

"Right, I'll head there at once." Lucy headed up the large flight of stairs towards her father's office, Natsu trailing behind.

They made it to the doors, Lucy stopping before walking in. She stood and turned to Natsu, her expression filled with worry.

"It'll be okay, I'm sure it won't even be a big deal." He pulled her in for a hug, quickly kissing the top of her head.

"Right." She whispered before pushing the giant wooden doors open, revealing her father sitting at his desk with two guards on both sides of the room.

"Lucy." Her father's voice boomed throughout the room as he stood up from his large leather chair. "It's about time you came back to me."

"What do you want?" Lucy demanded as she and Natsu stood a good distance away from his desk. "I'm not coming back here for good. Ever."

"Oh Lucy, don't be like that dear. First you disobey my every wish, then you steal money from me and now this? The least you could do is show me some respect."

"I never stole your stupid money. I just took what's mine. The money mom left for me when she died." Lucy shouted back.

"That money will only last so long, dear. Eventually you'll come running back to me." Lucy's father slowly sat back down.

"That's why I'm using the money to go to college, so I can get a good job."

"Please, you've never worked a day in your life. You'll never make it as a working woman." Jude laughed.

Natsu clenched his fists as he heard her father speak. "Hey. Don't talk to her like that. How do you expect her to respect you when you don't even respect her?"

"Ugh, Lucy, may I ask why you brought this...common boy here? You are never to talk back to me in my presence, boy."

"Tch..." Natsu angrily crossed his arms. The blonde looked over at him, giving him a glance of reassurance to get him stand down.

"Anyways, Lucy." Jude clasped his hands together on his desk. "I have asked you here today to discuss your...future."

Lucy let out a long sigh at the word "future".
