When Cassia woke several hours later it was dark outside. She checked her watch to see that it was close to 10pm. She sat up and took the bottle of water from Hoseok's nightstand, noticing a figure standing at the large window on the opposite side. The figure looked too tall to be Hoseok, but she called for him anyway. However, when the figure turned around, she saw that it most definitely was not Hoseok. It was Jungkook.
Jungkook turned at the sound of Cassia's voice, a look of uncertainty in his eyes.
"Oh, Jungkook. You're here?" he nodded at Cassia and walked closer to her. "Where did Hobi go?"
"He went to see my father, I think.... our father, rather." Jungkook sat on the foot of the bed below Cassia's feet, a look of bitterness on his face. "He wouldn't tell me that, but he was angry when he left, so I'm afraid that's where he went." Jungkook rested his elbows on his knees and his face in his hands. Cassia sat up straighter and pulled the covers closer to her for comfort.
"I'm sorry. I understand that you probably hate me and you have every right to," she started. "I know I put a huge damper on your life." Cassia paused as she looked at Jungkook. He slightly lifted his head, the look of annoyance still etched in his face.
"You know what, Cass?" he said. "You may have put a huge damper on my life, on my family's life, but what about you?" He stopped and sat up straight, looking over at her. Cassia said the first thing that came to her mind, the thoughts she always had.
"What about me?" Jungkook looked at her disbelievingly and took a deep breath as if he were agitated at having to explain.
"What about you?" He looked pointedly at her. "Cass, I know we haven't known each other long, only the time we spent together at the hostel. Even if you weren't my sister, no one deserves to have to live a life like that." Cassia's head popped up at Jungkook's words. It wasn't at all what she expected him to say. She stared at his face as he turned back toward the opposite side of the room, looking at the wall. "And I'm so sorry you had to go through what happened to you." His voice cracked before he finished and he took a deep breath to calm his nerves.
"But I messed up your family." Cassia felt pathetic. Jungkook looked back at her. "I should have found out more before I confronted him. I should have learned more about his family. I never would have done this to you on purpose."
"Technically, you didn't mess up anything. My dad is the one that left you. And the one that withheld truths from us. I wonder if my mom knew anything." he wondered aloud.
"Wait? Us? What do you mean 'Us' if you aren't talking about your mom." Cassia was completely confused now.
"You actually have another brother." Jungkook cocked his head to the side. "He is my older brother. Older by a year and a half."
"Oh," was all Cassia managed to get out. It was weird. In less than a day she went from having no siblings to having two younger brothers. She looked on, off in the distance as Jungkook continued to talk.
"Yeah, he doesn't stay around the family very much. He hates dad. He doesn't like mom much either. Not really sure why. From what I understand, mom got pregnant with JungSeo, but his dad," he looked over at Cassia and corrected himself. "Our dad, was nowhere to be found." Cassia looked at him curiously.
"JungSeo?" she questioned. "He has the same name as your dad?" Jungkook nodded.
"He grew up the first year and a half without him. Mom made sure she let him know how things were though, when he was older. She made sure dad never forgot it, either. She always seemed to hold something over his head." Cassia nodded, wondering if the JungSeo she had met earlier, the younger one, was her brother. "Cass?" Jungkook's voice brought her out of her revere. She looked up at him a little startled.
