'Why didn't you tell me he was coming?'
Complains Yue, rattled, from having seen a glimpse of Dylan, sitting on the couch. She and Jia are in the kitchen, putting the champagne Yue brought, into the fridge.
'What's the problem?' Shrugs Jia. 'Did you seriously want to be the third wheel with me and Xi Ze? I know you said Dylan was rude to you that night, but you only met him once, so give him another chance. Besides it's easier to get to know someone in this setting, instead of a club. And, I had a proper look at him just now...he's really gorgeous babe. If nothing else, looking at him, will help you forget your awful date with Ming Lee.'
Oh that's right, Jia doesn't know anything about her current situation with Dylan.
Meanwhile in the living room, Dylan turns to Xi Ze, frowning.
'Why didn't you tell me she was coming?' 'What's the matter? You were instantly attracted to her last week, and yeah maybe she didn't fall for your lines then, but I've never known you to back out of a challenge? So you are welcome buddy! Besides, you didn't really want to be the odd one out, with me and Jia, did you? If you try hard enough, I'm sure she will let you kiss her.'
Oh that's right. Xi Ze doesn't know anything about his current situation with Yue.
Jia and Xi Ze are sitting on the double couch, cuddling, while Yue and Dylan are seated at opposite ends, in single ones. Dylan has noticed that Yue has not looked at him once, since she got here. She is totally ignoring him. If he tries to say something to her, she immediately starts talking to either Xi Ze or Jia, effectively cutting him off. It's doing his head in.
Xi Ze and Jia, have not noticed that something is amiss between the two of them, mainly because, they are quite wrapped up in each other, and also because Yue is not being rude about it. She is being super lively, laughing that amazing laugh of hers, and telling jokes that are cracking everyone up. He didn't realize how funny she is. Another reason to love her.
He has been looking at her, the whole time, hoping she will glance at him...but nothing. It's beginning to make him upset. He knows he has no right to be angry, especially after how he behaved this morning, but to his credit, he has never been in a position like this before, and doesn't exactly know how to navigate their social differences.
Sitting here in Xi Ze's apartment, just four young people, hanging out and having drinks...none of that class stuff seems to matter. Watching her, across the room from him, looking at how beautiful she is, and how mentally stimulating she is, he feels like he has made a huge mistake, pushing her away. She is worth it..... She is worth making the effort for!
Xi Ze is in the middle of saying something, when Dylan blurts out loudly,
'Yue I like you!'
Xi Ze stops talking and he and Jia glance at Yue, who looks flustered.
