CRASH!

I jolted up on my bed and instantly became awake. Melody hardly broke anything and mom was even more careful with her property.

I got out of the bed as quietly as I could, moving towards my wardrobe I took out a long yellow dress and put it on. I took my gun and removed the safety catch. I had slept in the nude and I was now moving in the yellow dress without any underwear.

My mom has told me countless times to stop sleeping in the nude but this just isn't the time to feel guilty. Slowly I pull out my gun and open the door a crack. There was silence. I moved forward noiselessly.

"Don't move!"

I heard a voice say from downstairs. I stood still , my mind already working out a defense plan.

"Where is your sister?"

The voice continued. I'm not the one being spoken to. I moved forward and looked down the stairs. Two men were in the living room. One had a fistful of Melody's hair in his hand and was whispering in her ear while her eyes widened in terror.
I narrowed my eyes and sized him up. He is taking a second serving of whatever I dish out to them.

The second man looked a bit older and had a gun pointed at my mother. I will shoot this one between the eyes I arranged.

"If you don't talk mommy will be killed right now and you, well I'm looking for a new toy." The guy holding my sister grinned at her.

Melody : "Please let me go. "

I aimed at the man near my mother and drifted down the stairs.

"To what do I owe this visit?" I asked as the young man spotted me. I don't know him. Neither do I know the second one.

"Ah, so you've finally made an appearance. I thought you would never show up with all the time you took." I glared at the teenage boy.

"Let go of my sister before I decide to paint my walls red with your blood" I glared at him. He only smirked back.

I have to know why they are here and who sent them. I ask the older man .

"No questions. We came to kill you. Your mother and sister will be collateral damage." The reply came.

He quickly moved the gun towards me but before he could get it pointed at me I shot him between the eyes and aimed at the teenage boy.

"Don't! If you shoot she would take the bullet." He said.

I must get some information before I kill him. I have to know why they wanted me dead. Not that it's a surprise considering my job but i had to know who they were.

Sidney: "Who are you? "

Teenage boy :" I'm not that dumb to tell you. I'm going to walk out slowly by walking backward with your sister covering me. If you shoot, I will make sure she is the one the bullet hits. "

He has no weapon. Ok, this should be easy.
I gave no reply as he began moving backwards toward the door. My gun was still trained on him.

"Keep her safe" I said. He frowned at me in confusion but he continued moving. Why would I tell a kidnapper to keep my sister safe? He probably wondered. That was all I needed. A little distraction for him.

Bang!

He let go of Melody and grabbed his shoulder in a reflex action. She sprang away from him and dashed behind me.

"Who sent you? If you talk you live." I said circling him with Melody cowering behind me.

"Darcy. She sent us to bring the evidence and kill you. Master probably told her to send us."
He replied still moving backwards towards the door.
Blood dripped from his shoulder to the smooth white floor.

" Who is your master? " I probed further.

" X " he said while narrowing his eyes.

Bang!

And he was on the highway to hell.

I looked at the two bodies sprawled on the floor. Why did X send only 2 men? Maybe he thought since I was at home my guard will be down and after all I was the only one who could try to fight that they had to take care of.

I had come across that name. X was the man whom the evidence I sent to Nathaniel was against. We hadn't gathered enough evidence but it seemed the little we had was to much in X's opinion.

A gun shot made my brain stop analysing.

I spun around with my gun raised to see yet another man. He had shot my mother and now had his gun trained on me.

My gun was pointing at him as well. I had a feeling he was faster at shooting than the others.

"Come" he ordered.

"Or else your sister dies" he added and moved his aim to her.  I started walking towards him.

"You think you are smart? Put down your gun and kick it away" he snarled.

I did as he said and he aimed at me again. This one is smarter than the others.

" Please, don't shoot me in front of my sister. She has already seen our mother get shot" I said and pleaded with my eyes. I hope he agrees so that I can have a better chance of killing him. If he chooses to shoot me now I will be good as dead.

He nodded. Good, not so smart after all.

When I got a bit closer to him I moved out of range and threw myself at him. I shouted for Melody to ran to her room and lock the door as I went for his throat.

He tried to aim at me but I punched into his biceps. The gun fell and I tried to take it but he bit into my arm. I put my knees on his shoulders and he stopped biting me. I grabbed the gun and shot him point blank. The bullet went right through his scull.

I got up breathing heavily. I looked around to make sure that was all of them. Then I moved to my mother. I stood in front of her body which was lying on the floor as if she was just asleep but the blood pooling beneath it showed otherwise.

I bend down and check her pulse. Already knowing the obvious. She was dead. I hugged the body tightly as emotion suddenly rushed all over me.
Silent tears flow. Melody. I have to make sure she is ok.

I take in a shaky breath and slowly lay my mother back onto the floor. The one who brought me into this world and took care of me.  Gone, just in a matter of minutes. I will take care of Melody and myself I silently promised, still looking at her.

Father had died years ago on a business trip when the train he was traveling on derailed few minutes to his destination. His body was flown back to us. Now here I was, faced with mother's lifeless corps.

I get up and head to Melody's room. We have to leave this place. I was always careful not to get my residence discovered by anyone suspicious during a mission. Now that X and his men know where I live I have to move. You have to know where your target is before shooting.

I opened Melody's door without knocking. Modesty is not important to me right now.
