...three. The second he opened the door and stepped out I pulled the trigger. With the safety already disengaged the bullet went into his scull as he froze in place for a couple of seconds before turning to look at me through glazed eyes.
Eyes with a new type of glaze. A glaze made from the perfect mixture of surprise, anger and hate (I hope). His hand shot out to grab my neck but I stopped it and punched him in the nose.
Fool. I look down at his pathetic state. Bloodied nose and a little stream of scarlet seeping pretty quickly out of the side of his head. I aimed the gun at his chest and half-hearted pulled the trigger. I was damn sure I had only one shot with this kind of equipment but no harm in checking.
This picture could use a little more red anyway. Red. My favorite color as a child. Why did I even change it? I can't remember. It looks so beautiful right there on the shiny tiles.
A groan excaped from Josh's tight lips and my eyes shifted from his wound to his face. I moved back a bit as I saw he was trying to get up. ++Bring it on mother fucker++ Smiling I watched his slow but determined progress. This is going to be fun.
He was halfway up and I took it as the perfect moment to knee him in the stomach and throw him down. Getting on top of him I grabbed his shirt collar and pulled his torso to my chest at the same time my fist collided with his jaw.
To my surprise he managed to grab my hand as it hit him and swapped our position. Raining fists, that's all I could see for a moment. I struggled to free myself and did after the fourth blow nearly reached me. Kneeing him in the goods, I pulled his hand towards me and twisted it savagely as I used it as leverage to throw him off and get up.
He was getting weaker, I could sense it. This was the moment I was waiting for. I pulled him and pushed him into the chair I had sat in the day he had made me sign the contract at gun point.
He was almost gone now but I needed him to live for a few more minutes. I went to pull the blanket off the bed and covered him with it. The warmer the better. Stacking all 6 pillows under his legs including the bedside lamp, I started searching for my phone. Not finding it, I gave him a once over and decided to search him. With only a towel round his waist I wasn't really sure I could find my phone underneath.
++The bathroom++ Right. I head to the bathroom and there I find my phone. Wasting no time I open my call log. [Empty]
Son of a ... . No sweat, I typed Nathaniel's number from memory and waited for him to pick up.
Nath : "You done aren't you?"
Sidney : "Yeah, the chicken put up a fight but it's roasted now." I replied while glancing briefly at Josh's corpse.
Nath : "I will be there soon. (Pause) Should I bring some wine?"
Sidney : "Excuse me?"
Nathaniel : " For the meal silly."
I was taken back by Nath's free talk. Nevertheless...
Sidney : "Yes boss, if you really want to."
Nathaniel : "Alright, I will be there shortly."
He hung up and I turned my attention to the corpse again. Should I remove the blanket? I had hoped it would keep him alive for a little chat but no he was far gone.
Would have been helpful to actually know something about his life. Anyway, I went to open the door but it wouldn't open. Damn! Smart house. I wonder if it knows it's owner is dead and raised a silent alarm or something.
Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Nathaniel and whatever team he will bring along should be able to get in somehow. So I can only wait.
I stretched and walked towards the wardrobe. No need to waste precious time.
While waiting I could by trying on these clothes and see how I looked in them. I don't know why but now that I killed Josh, the clothes suddenly look beautiful.
