The Mask

CHAPTER 5

The day after, Trevor woke up early into the forest and he felt a little bit dizzy, he rubbed his eyes to clear his vision, at first he thought he was not in the forest anymore but when he looked up he was wrong there are that familiar large trees that surrounded the pathway of the forest. He stood up and thankfully there's no one that harmed him while he is asleep and it was a little bit dark because it was early in the morning, sadly he didn't know where he is and what time it is because he had no belongings with him. He decided to continue walking to the forest while walking he is praying silently that he could get back at his house. The pathway was permanently straight-line, tortuous and has many rocks. His feet are aching every step he took because of the wounds but he kept on walking. After a few minutes, the sun rises and it shines so brightly thinking it would be a sunny day, he easily managed to examine where he is and all he could see are still the large trees like he is not walking down the forest.

After a few hours of walking to the forest, he felt very tired and exhausted as he saw a big rock near the stream and laid down for a few minutes to regain his strength. As he closed his eyes he remembered about the terrifying scene that happened yesterday in the forest where he couldn't manage to help the students that had been killed by a stranger. He felt bad about what happened to them. After a few minutes he finally regained his strength and stood up and went to the stream to drink the water from it because he was very thirsty, he knew that it was clear water because he could see his reflections through the water. He stared at himself for a few minutes and went back to his business.

Went back into the outside world, all of the people in Pennsylvania heard the news about the tragedy that happened to the students in the unknown forest, because the students who died in the falls are broadcasted on the television and some are written in the newspapers but there are no names of the students that are mentioned. Other people are making stories and theories about it. The students who died are said to be 4 boys and 2 girls a total of 6 students. The police are still investigating and searching for the suspect who killed the students. The dead bodies of the students are found in the different parts of the falls near the stream. The investigators think that the killer killed them in different ways.

News Reporter: "Yesterday there was a crime that happened near the falls in Pennsylvania. There are 6 dead bodies of students that are found in different locations. 4 boys and 2 girls. Currently, the investigators that went through the falls are still investigating the crime. So we will interview the chief officer namely JOSEF TAYLOR reporting.

Chief Josef Taylor: "Right now we are still investigating the crime, we still could not find out the reason for their death and why the students went through the falls. Their bodies are now covered in a white cloth and we are searching for the killer's fingerprint but to our surprise, there was no fingerprint that matched. If we found some clues here we will inform you immediately and that's all".

News Reporter: "Thank you so much Chief for the information, hopefully, you could find some clues".

Chief Josef Taylor: "thank you!".

News Reporter: "thank you for watching and that's the news for today."

The death of the students is not yet distinguished and there is no evidence that the killer left.

Back in the forest, Trevor is feeling uneasy while he is walking because he thinks like he saw this place but he kept walking eagerly to go out of the forest. It was night time and it is raining, he is having a hard time walking because the path is slippery and he could barely see his surroundings. To his surprise, he saw a cave and he didn't realize that it is the same cave where he woke up from. When he's in the cave he sighed heavily and laid there. He took his shirt off and he hissed in pain because his wounds are not healed completely. He dries himself up and he heard an unusual noise from the cave, and there he saw the same woman holding a mask that he saw in the past days. At that moment, it hit him that he was in the same cave and he rubbed his eyes thinking that he is imagining things because he is tired but nothing happened. He managed to get all his courage to ask the woman.

"Who are you?! Why are you still in the cave?!" Trevor said scared.

The woman responded in a calm voice, "I'm Anna, I've seen you here already in the past two days, don't be scared I will not harm you".

Trevor felt relieved and he said with a smile plastered on his face, "thank you!".

After a few minutes of awkward silence, they both laid down and they talked some random stuff about themselves to get to know each other. As time flies by Trevor felt comfortable around Anna and they kept chatting and laughing until they decided to sleep in the cave. Anna shared him a blanket and they both fell asleep.
