A/N: The first cut of this was super, super long, so I split it into two parts. The 2nd part will come a bit later (I want to work on it more).

In a rush, Sam sped out of his apartment, got into his car and raced through traffic. He then whipped open the car door, slammed it shut and rushed into the emergency room. Breathing heavily, he instantly caught the attention of the woman at the desk. "Ma'am I need to know the status of Elijah Bradley," he said to her.

"Sir, I cannot disclose confidential-"

"Sam! Samuel," Isaiah said, grabbing his shoulder.

   "Isaiah...what's going on?"

"I just came back from giving 'buncha my blood.  They're givin it to him now.  I don't know further than that!" He explained.

"Why was he shot?  Wrong place, wrong time?" Sam asked.

"Guess so, don't know for sure. When I got there, he was already getting taken away," Isaiah said as he sat down, creaking and groaning a bit.

"You think it may have to do with that shit he was taking? He was taking it right? As in past tense?"

"As far as I know he never touched it again afterwards. I searched his whole damn room for it, found a few viles and threw that shit out. He's not a bad kid, Sam."

"I know. The fact that he was putting himself in danger to help others shows how good he is. He's just also an idiot," Sam said, causing Isaiah to chuckle.

"When my late wife Faith and I had kids, we had Sarah and Josiah. I figured the serum would pass through 'em. It did quite a bit for Josiah, not so much for Sarah. Guess it doesn't work as well from a father to a daughter. She looks just like her momma. She was stronger than the average girl, but nothing too jarring. She had five kids with Lenny. They never married. One day he dropped dead from a heart attack. Eli was pretty young growing up without a father, so he'd spend a lot of time with me and his uncle. I'd tell em my stories and Josiah would tell him his about Panama in the 80s. So...Eli's always wanted to be like us."

"I just hope the kid's gonna be alright."

A few minutes later, a doctor came into the emergency room. "Bradley," he called, as Isaiah and Sam stood.

"Is he okay? Tell me he's okay," Isaiah pleaded.

"He's going to be alright...thanks to your blood. I take it you're enhanced?"

"Yes, I am."

"Can we see him? Is he awake?" Sam asked.

"I'll allow only a few minutes. He needs rest," the doctor told them.

"Alright, lets go," Sam said, holding Isaiah's arm to keep him steady.

The two men were guided by the doctor to Eli's room in the emergency unit.  Isaiah entered the room first, walking over to Eli and taking his hand.  Eli smiled as Isaiah squeezed his hand.  The young man then quirked a brow at Sam, not expecting him.  "Uh...hey," Eli said, his voice low and quiet.

"Hey kid.  How are you feeling?" Sam asked, standing beside the bed.

"I got shot three times so I'm feeling pretty shitty," Eli said. "I know something that'd make me feel better though."

"What's that?" Sam asked, crossing his arms.

"Can I meet Kate? The Hawkeye girl?  She is sooo fine!" Eli said as Sam shook his head and laughed.
