Guardians of the Light (Book 2: Revision)

Chapter 17

An epic battle against the forces of good and evil raged on. Once The Darkness had sensed them there Lillian knew an sneak ambush attack would not work which meant the final stage needed to be acted upon and a battle had started between their forces and The Darkness forces. Demons of all kinds flooded into the chamber followed by Warlocks and the witches led by Kamila Morelli. Lillian with Sara and James focused on dealing with the demons with back up from the police officers.

Lyssa led the charge against Kamila while half of her sisters took on the Warlocks and other witches. With James taking care of Sara Lillian moved closer towards The Darkness. She knew that she alone could only take on The Darkness, he had her soulmates body if anyone could bring Ronin forward it was her. She could feel that she had to do something to kill Abnus so that Ronin might be free of the unholy creatures hold.

Just as she was pulling her knife from the skull of a Flesh Demon watching it turn to dust before her eyes, Abnus appeared before her, "Hello Guardian Lillian come to die have you? Nothing you do will free your dear Ronin from my hold". His weapon formed from the black mist rolling down his arm taking a swing at Lillian. She quickly dogged it, eyes finding those of Lyssa, she nodded her head.

Lyssa and her sisters surrounded Abnus, Lyssa opened the golden box and together they all started chanting, "Etheeum Persous! Etheeum Persous! Etheeum Persous!". A smooth silver line shot out of the golden box hitting The Darkness right in the chest causing the creature to roar out in anger. Slowly a shadow figure started to pull from Ronin's body, this was the true essence of The Darkness, pulling back into the golden box as the witches started chanting louder and faster.

Lillian could feel the hope rising inside her chest they were winning soon she would have her soulmate back in her arms. But as soon as she felt that hope it quickly turned to despair as The Darkness unleashed a great power knocking everyone over. It's essence returning to Ronin's body shouting, "You fools! You will never defeat the ancient power of Abnus, face my wrath and revision for your world!".

The mine started to shake loose dirt and rocks started to fall from the ceiling, screams rang out as those that couldn't get out of the way fast enough got crushed. Lillian ran for cover making sure both Sara and James were protected from falling rocks. "What do we do now Lillian, it's not working... I am scared" whispered Sara to her, tears forming in her eyes as Lillian brought Sara close to her in a hug.

She would not let anything happen to her or James but there was nothing they could do now they had lost. Evil had won.

"Lillian..." a familiar voice called out to her, she knew it was Ronin. Lillian stood in the direction of The Darkness, "Lillian.. Please", Ronin's voice spoke again. If this was another one of The Darkness tricks she would not fall for it again. "Lillian please, it's not a trick, you need to end this please..." Ronin's voice begged her.

She could feel it in her soul that it truly was Ronin's voice calling to her. There was no denying their soulmate bond being this close together, it warmed her heart to feel it once more.

"You know what must be done, please end it now Lillian" spoke Ronin's voice once more.

"Don't make me do it, I can't live without you again.." she whispered tears streaming down her face.

But as Lillian looked around at all the chaos and destruction The Darkness was causing she knew she had no other choice but to end it now. In order to save and protect not only the whole world but Sara, James and everyone else here she needed to kill The Darkness and protently the man she loved.

With The Darkness focusing all his attention on destroying the mine he wasn't paying attention to Lillian as she moved towards the unholy creature drawing her knife with shaking hands before plugging it deep into the unholy creatures heart.

The shaking stopped, The Darkness roared in angst, ebony ashes floated from Ronin's body and into the golden box, Lyssa crawling to the box shutting it and sealing it with a powerful spell. Ronin's body clasped into Lillian's arms as she fell to her knees tears streaming down her face. She shook Ronin's limp body in her arms, "Please.. Ronin wake up. I can't lose you" she spoke through sobs, she screamed out the most horrible scream anyone had ever heard, cradling Ronin's body against hers.

James slowly approached witnessing the light leave his Guardian's body, staring at Ronin's now lifeless face.
