Guardians of the Light (Book 2: Revision)

Chapter 16

Lillian had been waiting for this reunion with Sara ever since the day after The Darkness had destroyed The Circle and Lillian had to send Sara and James away for their safety, now with Sara wrapped in her arms Lillian felt half complete. They just needed to defeat The Darkness and get Ronin back then she would feel totally complete. She didn't want to let Sara go from their hug but Lillian knew plans needed to be prepared for their assault on the place The Darkness was hiding out with his forces and keeping Nicole and Noah.

Madam Mayor Hammond had called a meeting between all the allies to collaborate on a strategy plan for their plan of attack. Right now it was just Sara, James, Lillian, three New Haeven Police Officers, Lyssa and fellow Coven witch Delphine, who had brought some witches from the Sisters of The Ancient One, now loyal to Lyssa as their leader. These witches had grown tired of Kamila's evil ways and wanted to turn the Coven into one of good witches, rewrite the stained history the Coven was known for.

Most of them had turned on Kamila when they found out about Lyssa because she has a blood right to claim leadership over Kamila, being the direct descendant of Brighid. While they lacked the numbers to fight off The Darkness forces there was enough strength and will to at least put up a good fight, just enough time for Lyssa and her sisters to try and trap The Darkness within the box prison which had once held the unholy creature many centuries ago.

It was their last and only hope of destroying The Darkness for good and getting her Ronin back, losing him again would break Lillian. Her whole life would shatter into pieces if Ronin died, they were soulmates bonded together forever. By morning Lillian had not slept at all, spending the night training her body, pushing it past every physical limit she could in order to be ready for the night ahead. Sara had wanted to stay up with her but Lilian advised otherwise and sent Sara and James to bed.

Lillian wanted them well rested for the events about to take place today, they need to be focused on protecting themselves if Lillian couldn't be there to do so. Really the last thing she wanted was for Sara and James to be there during the battle for fear of something happening to them. With The Darkness being so close Lillian had no doubts that it would try to attack the Children of the Light but Lillian would make sure that never came to pass even if she had to give up her own life to make sure.

The troops were making last minute preparations to embark on the journey to the battlefield Lyssa went over the containment spell with her fellow sisters one more time, the police officers dressed into full body riot gear and heavy assault weapons, James and Sara were fitted with armour and weapons much like Lillian was.

Stage 1 of the plan was to sneak into The Darkness lair undetected taking out any posted guards.

Stage 2 consisted of the three police officers breaking off from the group led by Lt. 3 on the rescue mission to save Noah and Nicole. Thanks to the Mayor the group had been able to get old blueprints of the mine The Darkness was currently using as a hide out making it easy to make their plan of attack smoother.

Stage 3 was for everyone to meet up in the main mine system Lillian knew that's where The Darkness would be, they would have to be careful for any demon or Warlock patrols coming through the tunnel, everyone had a copy of the blue prints so no group got lost.

Stage 4 was to drop an ambush attack on any enemies within the opening, The Darkness would be able to sense the light from Sara and James so everyone wasn't sure if this stage in the plan would work if things didn't work out everyone knew to jump right into the next and final stage of the plan.

Stage 5 came down to Lyssa and her Coven witches using the containment spell to pull The Darkness out of Ronin's body and trap The Darkness essence inside the golden box, the witches would then seal it with unbreakable magic so The Darkness could never be unleashed again.

Once they had The Darkness contained within the box it would be brought to the Kingdom of the Royal House of Witches to be guarded there. It was the most secure place to protect it because the Coven of The Enlightened Kingdom was on a whole different plane of time than the rest of the world. Lillian took the army along the same route her and Lt. Perez had earlier to find the hide out in the first place, now they all were traveling that way. Up ahead at the tunnel entrance only two lesser Demons were guarding it making easy work for Lillian to dispatch them so the rest of the group could move in.

Clearing the way of any threats everyone moved quickly through the mine tunnels until they reached the part where the police officers group broke off from the main group and went to rescue Nicole and Noah. Everyone else went in the direction of the met up point on high alert for any enemies that came this was until the officers came back. Lillian was starting to get restless as time ticked away and they hadn't come back yet, a million thoughts running through her mind with every bad situation one could think of.

Footsteps were moving quickly in their direction, Lillian braced for what was coming their way hand gripped tight on her knife ready for a fight. Except it was Lt. 3 who emerged from the tunnel followed by a banged up Noah helping Nicole walk who was in the same shape as him lastly the rest of the officers held up the rear. Lillian was happy to see Nicole alive and embraced her lightly, "Sorry we ran into some trouble after rescuing Nicole and Noah but we handled it" spoke Lt. Perez.

Lillian didn't have much time for a reunion with Nicole because they needed to get on the move to execute the next stage in their plan. Once everyone regrouped they moved through the rest of the passage ways to reach the final destination of the main chamber of the mine. Located in the center of the room was a giant throne built of human skulls, sitting upon this throne was a huge dark figure, black mist rolling off the figure as it slowly rose from it's position. Lillian could feel the air shift around them the powerful evil energy coming from this figure who was The Darkness.

His blood red eyes glanced in the direction where the party was hiding, flashing a smirk across his face, the black mist faded away revealing Ronin's body but the voice that came out of it was not him but The Darkness instead,

"Welcome to your impending doom forces of the Light"
