Guardians of the Light (Book 2: Revision)

Chapter 14

All three of them stood in front of the Greek Guardian Headquarters for what seemed like hours, “Try knocking again” James suggested. Guardian Isadora had brought them here after they had returned to the present time period. Only when they arrived and Guardian Isadora tried to open the solid doors by scanning her Guardian symbol tattoo nothing happened. So here they were all three of them standing and waiting for the door to open or for someone to come out. 

“Maybe try your symbol again, there has to be someone in there” groaned James, Guardian Isadora commented that she had already tried several times before James just had to be patient, that was one thing James could not do right now was wait and be patient. He moved towards the door pounding on it this time shouting, “We know people are in there. We are friends of Master Guardian Andreas, there is another Guardian out here and two Children of the Light. Now you listen to me were in danger right now so if you don’t open up now and something happens to us it’s on you!”

James could hear Guardian Isadora start to make a comment about what he had just said but it was short lived as the solid door swung open and a short man slowly poked around the corner coming face to face with James who was much taller than this man and towered over him. The man jumped in his skin before speaking in a nervous tone, “Syngnómi Mister James, Miss Sara and Guardian Isadora, after Master Guardian Andreas was brought back to us in grave condition the Headquarters was ordered on lock down. No one in, no one out”. 

Now James kinda felt bad for acting the way he had just a few moments ago, to make up for the way he acted James was about to apologize but the Guardian seemed to sense this as he spoke first. “No need to apologize Mister James. Come Acting Master Guardian Natalia and Senior Guardian Marco have been waiting for our arrival for sometime”, all three of them followed the Guardian inside. The layout of the inside of the Greek Guardian Headquarters was very different from the formerly Guardian Headquarters in New Haeven, everything around them was molded deep in Ancient Greek culture and had probably been like that since it was built in Ancient Greece. 

They came to an open area filled with several monitors and computer screens. This must be their command center within the Headquarters. Standing in the middle were two Guardians who looked like they were in charge as they were ordering commands to different Guardians as they came and went in different directions. When the group approached Acting Master Guardian Natalia greeted them each and James asked if Master Guardian Andreas was well enough to join them by the look on Acting Master Guardian Natalia’s face and the shaking of her head was enough to have all the answers he needed, Master Guardian Andreas would not be joining them. 

“Let me first introduce myself, I am the second in command Guardian here and appointed Acting Master Guardian for now. My name is Guardian Natalia, this is our Senior Guardian and his name is Guardian Marco. Master Guardian Andreas spoke of your arrival but after our Guardian scouts found the Master Guardian in the condition that he was in, we all feared the worst. Hence the reason we went on lockdown we didn’t know if these witchs would return or if any of you had made it”

James knew very well that a Guardian’s job could be dangerous and even deadly but it still didn’t mask the pain he felt for the Master Guardian after he had stayed behind to make sure the group had gotten away. “Do not worry too much Mister James, the Master Guardian is resting in the Healing Pools, he shall be back to proper shape soon. Now onto the matters in which you have come here. Senior Guardian Marco will give you all the details needed surrounding the target and the object in question”. 

James and the others were led away from the main command center to a much smaller room with only a few computer monitors and a single man behind the desk operating the systems. Senior Guardian Marco spoke something to him in Greek because images appeared on the screens before them. James leaned forward to get a good look at the women’s face on the screen, next to the picture was every little detail the case file had on this woman, “Who’s Lyssa Rathmore?” James questioned his eyes glancing from one motioner to the next trying to process all the information that was in front of him.
