The part about life that makes it good is supposed to be the people, at least that's what mom used to say. I for sure think she's right, if it wasn't for the right people that stuck by me I wouldn't still be here.

Those people were my best friend Amber Sear, my close friends Alec King, and Camryn Benn, and of course my slightly crazy Aunt Lori and my cousin Steven. I'm truly so grateful for them they make life worth living.

I moved in with my aunt and cousin a little over a year ago, and luckily didn't have to change schools. So, I got to stay with my friends, thank god.

I can't stop myself from spiraling down into my thoughts of what would I have done if they weren't there for me? Who would I have become? I think as I lay on my bed listening to some music.

I check my phone and groan realizing I only have ten minutes before I have to leave to go to school. I normally drive with Steven and Amber to school, I get Amber too because otherwise she'll stroll into class ten minutes late. And with two more tardies she'll land herself in detention again. She's already had two detentions, one for gum chewing and another for 'talking back' to a teacher, and it's only a week into senior year.

I rush to the bathroom to brush my teeth and quickly comb my shoulder length dark blonde hair, leaving it down, same as always. I swipe a little mascara on my eyelashes and curl them a bit, just to look presentable before I go back to my room.

I do a quick once over of my outfit. I nod to myself in approval of my high wasted black ripped jeans, simple white tee, and my iconic black bomber jacket.

I grab my brown glasses and keys from my desk and my grey backpack that sits on the chair in front of it. I run downstairs and grab two muffins Aunt Lori left on the counter for me and Steven.

"Steven, get your ass down here or we're gonna be late." I yell throughout the house not knowing where he is.

"Jeez calm down I'm right here." I look over into the living room and see him putting on his shoes while shaking his head with a little smile on his face. "I'm ready." he says while standing up.

Both me and him inherited pretty similar genetics, we both had hazel eyes, a couple freckles now our faces, and blonde hair, although his was a bit lighter than mine. He was also a bit taller than me, even though he's younger being two years apart, I stand at 5'6" while he's 5'8".

People often think we're siblings or twins even, which I get because we think a lot a like, and have the same sarcastic type of humor.

At school we seem to have very different personalities though, I am seen as more of a shy nerd who keeps to herself. Where he is more outgoing, and he of course plays football. He has a slightly bigger friend group than mine, but like me likes to keep his circle of friends close.

I smile back at him and say, "Catch," as I throw the other muffin to him. He catches it easily before heading out the door to the car. I quickly grab my black and white converse from the closet and slip them on.

I lock the door before heading to the car while texting Amber. I throw my bag in the back of the car and hop in the drivers seat.

Steven is already scrolling through Spotify to find a good song to play as I start backing out of the driveway. Seconds later I hear Returns start playing by NF, I turn to Steven smiling as we both start singing along.

In about 5 minutes we arrive at Ambers I text her telling her we're here. Seconds later I see her walk out the door with a smile on her face. She's wearing black leggings, a slightly baggy black band tee, and a flannel coat with the hoodie up. Her light brown hair is slightly wavy, she smiles and hops in the back, throwing her black backpack next to mine.

Amber isn't very open with a lot of people, a lot of time people see her as a bitch, or rude, but she doesn't mind. She chooses to not have many friends she really only prefers me and a couple others. Even though I'll agree she does have a tough exterior, she is the most caring and kind person I know.

"Hey guys how's it going?" She says as she leans up in between me and Steven. I laugh and shake my head. Steven just leans slightly away from her and mumbles a hey to her.

I've never asked him but I'm pretty sure he's had a crush on her for a while, since we do hangout a lot together. I've even seen him blush a few times after I caught him staring at her a couple of times.

But as much as I ship them Amber just got out of a two year relationship two months ago and I know she needs time before looking for someone else. He didn't cheat on her or anything, just him going to college made it too hard for them to work. So they went their separate ways.

As I'm driving I rip my muffin in half and hand one half to Amber. I know she never eats breakfast in the morning so I try to give her some of mine when I can. "Hell yeah! These are always the best!" Amber says as she grabs it and munches on it in the back seat.

Once she's done she reaches up and grabs Stevens phone looking for some music to play. She starts playing Radio Ga Ga by Queen. We both start singing along, Steven just rolls his eyes with a little smile on his face.

A few songs later we arrive at Lincoln High. Luckily today I get a spot that's closer to the entrance than normal. I turn off my car and we all grab our bags before locking it. Thank god it was Friday, this week had already felt too long.

I have Calculus first hour while Amber has Computer Science and Steven has Gym. "So, V you know there's a party tonight after the football game..." She says hinting at the fact that she wants to go. I normally don't go to parties that are in town because there's too many familiar faces.

I like being able to be me without people from school being shocked that I would attend such a thing. But I do go to ones occasionally in town because Amber thinks eventually people will learn I'm not the sheltered good girl that people think I am.

"Yep I know Amber," I say while looking at her. She gives me her signature puppy dog eyes. I groan and roll my eyes before caving, "Yeah okay we'll go, but I'm not going over the top with makeup or outfit."

She smiles before hugging me, "Yay, okay I'm so excited, don't worry we won't stay all night I promise." I smile knowing that she never breaks her promises, even if she gets blackout drunk she's stubborn to keep her word.

Well let's hope this party is worth it.
