It had been about two hours since we got here, and the party was still alive as ever. And me being me, I decided to drink a lot, and was almost reaching my drunken state. Me and Amber had 'lost' Camryn an hour ago but we saw her talking and even dancing a bit with a guy so we let her be.
And lucky me, I had lost Amber somewhere in the crowd of dancing teenagers. I decided to go to the back yard to clear my head and check to see if I could find Amber or Camryn out there.
I pushed past tons of people to get to the back yard. There were not many people out here, a friend group mingling, and maybe two couples sitting and talking amongst themselves.
Feeling nauseous I lead myself to the swing set near the back of the yard to rest for a second. When I got there it seemed relatively new, whoever lived here probably had a younger sibling, or who knows maybe they just loved play sets. I giggled to myself at the thought of some kid from school playing around on a play set by themselves. But I guess in a way I was doing the same thing right now.
Suddenly I heard a sound from the right of me and saw a figure approaching. Although it didn't scare me, I knew that I could handle myself if need be, even in my drunken daze. But it shocked me when I saw the persons face, I thought he'd be anywhere but here.
It was Elijah King. He always seemed like the anti-social type so it confused me why he's at a party. Seconds later I heard him scoff, probably realizing he knew who I was. "Well, well, well, if it isn't Miss perfect? What are you doing here?" He said, his words laced with venom.
I scrunched my eyebrows and could tell my features harden. I hated being called perfect, it was always by the people who didn't know shit. "Enjoying a party, is that a crime?" I retorted, while still softly swinging myself on the swing set.
"You just aren't the party type, princess. Wouldn't wanna ruin your perfect little reputation or life, now would we?" He said while walking up to grab something from the platform of the play set.
My face let out one of my coldest glares, which I know can be terrifying. "You don't know shit, King." I stood up from my seat walking over to him. "Is that why you seem to hate me? Because you-you think my life is perfect?" I said stumbling over my words a bit from the alcohol in my system, whilst almost tripping on my own feet.
He looked taken a back at first before saying, "You're always so fucking happy, you have good friends, probably a great family. You don't know what it's like to have it rough. You probably have shit handed to you on a silver platter." He sneered at me.
My face became blank and I let out a humorless laugh, "You couldn't imagine half the shit I've gone through." I said while slightly shaking my head and turning to walk away.
"What did daddy not buy you the car you wanted, or correct colored purse?" I froze in my spot. "What did you just say?" I said in my most menacing tone while turning to face him.
He smirked, "You heard me." Just as I was about to land a punch on him I felt hands on my shoulders, I looked up to see Steven holding me back. "Steven let me go so I can beat the shit out of him." I spoke slowly and firmly. Elijah looked amused, I knew he was thinking that I wouldn't be able to hurt him. How naïve
"Okay c'mon time to go, we don't need you being detained again." He said while slightly pushing me away. He looked over to see Elijah with his eyebrows furrowed at Stevens words. "Look, Elijah sorry for the trouble she gets uh snappy when she's drunk." He said while taking me through the house and back to the car where Amber was already waiting.
"Oh thank god you're okay! Where were you V? And why are you upset?" Amber said while wrapping me in a hug, as she analyzed me for any injuries.
"I went to the back to rest my head, and ran into Elijah." I could tell she suddenly become concerned. "I'm fine, he just said a few choice things that were not to my liking." I explained to her.
"Elijah? What did he say to you?" I could tell she was curious, he barely ever talked to anyone. "Yeah, what'd he say to get you so worked up?" Steven piped in.
I sighed, "He basically insinuated my life was 'perfect' and that I had everything so easy compared to him." I said while I crossed my arms.
"Why that little—I'm gonna kill him." Amber said beginning to walk off, before Steven picked her up, and set her back down in front of me, giving her a gruff 'no'.
"It's fine I'm okay now, he's just an ass. An unknowing ass." I said mainly to myself but to Amber too, in an effort to calm her down. We all talked for a few more minutes all preventing each other from doing something irrational.
"Hey wait a minute, where's Camryn?" I spoke up realizing the absence of one of our group members. "Oh yeah I forgot Alec took her home, she apparently drank too much and was getting too 'touchy' with some guys here." Amber informed me while we hopped into the car.
"So basically he probably got jealous that she was flirting with that random guy, and brought her home?" I said as both Amber and I laughed. She just responded with a 'yep' before leaning her head on the window and kicking her legs up on mine. I could tell she was tired from the long night.
Even though arguing with Elijah had been unplanned, I still think the night had been overall really fun.
I won't let some dumbass guy ruin a night with my friends, just because of his idiotic assumptions.
