dalia

I was swaying my hips slightly to the music that was pouring out of my bluetooth speaker in nothing but a t-shirt cooking dinner for me and Miles.

After i brought Miles back up to my apartment, something had shifted between us.

I let him take off my clothes and kiss me and hold me and bring me to a bliss i have never felt before. I hadn't slept with anyone since my brother, not really wanting to do a whole lore drop on my boundaries. Miles, however, remembered every single detail I told him.

He didn't touch my upper back, he never got too close to the places I told him about, and in the end he wrapped me in his arms and made sure I was okay.

After that, Miles mentioned going out to dinner tonight. But after waking up from our nap first I decided i wanted to cook him something as a 'thank you'.

So, again, here I was dancing in my kitchen cooking some of my famous chicken recipes with homemade mashed potatoes with a side of asparagus.

Yeah, i was fucking this shit up.

I heard my bedroom door open and light shuffled footsteps when Miles appeared around the corner yawning.

When his eyes adjusted he look at all the food on the counters and gave a small smile.

"You're cooking? I thought we were going out?" He came around behind me and gave me a hug, pressing his front against my back and swaying with me.

"I thought I could treat you to a night in. It's been a while since we stayed in."

I placed down my utensils and turned around, wrapping my arms around his neck and his around my waist. I stood on my tippy toes and kissed him once. His hand slithered into my hair and brought me back in for another kiss. After a moment, i pull back and narrow my eyebrows. Miles smiled and began chomping on the gum i had in my mouth before.

I scrunch my nose and hold out my hand. "ew. nasty. spit it out." He put the gum in my hand and laughed, "It was sexy, admit it". I roll my eyes and discard of the gum before washing my hands. "yeah, but we can't have you sick with mono."

I turn back around with my mouth open, "What ever will the papers say, my dear?" He smiled and mocked my tone, "New wife sickens Mr.Calo. Is she a witch?"

We both throw our heads back and laugh, me returning to my cooking and Miles sitting at the bar in front of me.

We fell into a a comfortable silence, me humming and cooking while Miles sat watching my every move.

Once the dinner was done, I placed Miles' plate in front of him and my own next to him at the bar. I rince my hands off for a final time and join Miles at the bar.

"I hope you like it. I get told my chicken and potatoes are to die for." I then watch him take a generous bite of both and groan.

"You don't understand how long it's been since i've had a home cooked meal like this." He turned to me and swallowed, "thank you.

"No, thank you." His eyebrows furrowed for a moment and stared at me. "For earlier." He flashed me his signature smirk before turning back to his food.

"You remembered everything and you made me feel safe. I wanted to treat you and just say thank you." He looked up at me and a small smile spread across his face as he took my hands in his.

"Dal, it's not that hard to understand someone's boundaries. I'm sorry if you ever had to experience that before me. I pray I will never make you feel that way."

His face hardened at the end and I blushed and looked down, "You're uh, actually the only person i've been with, in that way, since then."

I heard him sigh and turn back to his food, me doing the same. "I'm glad I was able to be a breath of fresh air to you."

I chuckled slightly and dug into my own food.

He really was a breath of fresh air to me. He has been the only partner to actually show he cares.

I felt that pit in my stomach, the ting in my heart. The feeling that's been building up since I met him.

I was utterly in love with this man.

And after dinner, watching him do the dishes after I protested several times to let me, I knew then and there that I had to be with this man. And not for publicity.

I wanted to wake up to him every morning. I wanted to go grocery shopping for both of us. I wanted to run outside the book store on my break to steal a kiss from him before I would come home to him.

"I really like you." I blurted out. He looked over at me and smiled, letting a delicious laugh come from his lips.

"Yeah?" I nodded and waited for him to say something. Anything.

He dried off his hands and came across the bar to me, still smiling. He leaned his hip against the counter and crossed his arms, "Are you ready?" I raised an eyebrow, confused as to what he meant.

"To be my girlfriend." My eyes widened and my mouth opened slightly, "Like, for real, for real?" He laughed once more and came closer before holding my hands.

"Yeah. For real, for real." He rubbed his thumb over my knuckles and stared at me waiting for a response.

But all I could do was jump up and kiss him.

It didn't feel real, to be honest. Yeah, I had been fake dating this man for months, but there was no commitment in that. There was no grocery runs or late mornings together. It was all for show.

"Yeah. I'm ready." I said pulling away and smiling at him.
