"Why do you try so hard for those beasts, hmm?"
"Why wouldn't I? I've lived among them my whole life!"
"Still clinging to delusions...I see there's no point in arguing with you any longer."
"Neither do I." You avoid another swipe, going in low to cut at his abdomen. He dodges nimbly, effortlessly leaving a cut on your arm. You pull back, grimacing at the quickly dwindling ground you have left to maneuver in.
"When will you learn to discard those feelings for animals? They'll only leave you weak!"
"And what gives you the right to judge that?! You've never had the chance to live among them, to forge friendships!" He growled, lunging directly towards you. You sidestep the attack, tripping him in the process and reversing your positions.
"Still clinging to your optimistic views I see. We'll see who has the right to judge...after I tear you apart!" Without warning, he suddenly gets much more aggressive, forcing you to focus on evading all his attempts at ending your life instead of the other way around. You aren't perfect though, and a few slices slip through and you end up with far more injuries than you'd have liked.
Counting the amount of slashes, you find the gap in his timing and immediately counter, parrying the last one and managing to snag your first wound on him. He grunts, retreating slightly. You keep on the offensive, fueled by the desire to make it out alive.
To make good on the promise you gave to Legosi. You settle into the rhythm of the dance you and he have created.
Cut, parry, dodge, swipe. Both of you mix it up as much as possible, both trying to get the advantage over the other.
He finds it first, feinting an overhead cut and ramming the knife hard into your side. You stagger back as he moves along in response, making sure to twist it in as hard as possible. You retaliate by driving your weapon into his shoulder, forcing him to let go. Both of you retreat, taking the time to pull the others' knife out from your bodies. You put a hand to your side in an attempt to staunch the blood flow.
You look up in time to see him dash forward, knife already poised towards your head. You veer left, but your injury leaves you slow, and he manages to nick your right arm pretty good. You force him back with a weak slice, leaning heavily on the railing edge and letting one arm droop over the edge.
"What's the matter? Too much to handle?" You grit your teeth, twirling the knife in your hand.
"Don't count me out just yet." As you trade blows once more, you start to feel more and more sluggish. Eventually, your vision blurs. He notices the state you're in, and smirks, relaxing slightly.
"Looks like the drug is kicking in."
"What drug?" You mumble, hyper focused on staying conscious.
"Oh, just something I procured in my spare time. The market really does have anything you can imagine.
"Bastard..." You slur. He nonchalantly walks up to you, pushing you towards the ground. He raises the knife.
"And this is where our game ends. Looks like I won." He says, before plunging the knife.
Adrenaline kicks in, and you stop it with your right arm, letting it go straight through and stopping an inch from your face. He applies more force, trying to get the knife to go right through.
He's forced off of you by someone tackling him. You quickly sit up, taking a second to wipe the blood from your vision.
"Juno?!" You shout. She's too busy trying to subdue your attacker, before she's thrown off of him. He pulls his gun out, aiming right for her. The wolf looks down the barrel in fear, too stunned to move. Time slows to a crawl as you pull the knife from your arm and blindly toss it towards him. Your aim holds true long enough for the knife to disarm him, and you tackle him shortly after.
