Into the Lion's Den

"Ah, [Name]. I assume you've completed your mission?" Ms.Sakura speaks on the other end of the line. You cough into your fist.

"Er...About that." You say looking across the room to the still sleeping deer. You briefly explain to the fox all that has transpired, waiting for her reaction.

"Hmm, I see. Well, I suppose you still technically completed your assignment. Just make sure this Louis doesn't make the same mistakes the last boss did."

"He won't, I think." Ms.Sakura laughs.

"My, my. You certainly know how to get yourself in such silly situations, eh [Name]?"

"It's not like I try in the first place..." You see Louis start to wake up. "I'll call you later once I sort all this out." With a click, you hang up, walking over to the deer. He rubs his eyes, yawning. "Morning, boss." Louis blinks sleepily at you.

"...Morning." You let him get dressed, following him out of his room shortly after. The lions all give you some form of greeting from where they sit. They all gather around Louis, waiting for his instruction.

"[Name], what do I do?" Louis asks, turning to you with a solemn look.

"Huh? Why are you asking me?" You say. Louis rubs his arm.

"I didn't expect to come out of this as a mob boss." You sigh, he's got you there. You run through a list of options, coming up short.

"If I may..." One of the lions speaks up. You and Louis turn to him. "Perhaps we should introduce Boss to the other gangs?" Louis looks back for your input.

"That's as good as any idea I can come up with." A few minutes later, and you all arrive at one of the major locations of the other gangs.

"Any reason why we're starting with these foxes?" One of the lions ask.

"I have connections." You reply without missing a beat, walking up to the sliding door and knocking. When the door slides open, you are greeted by an arctic fox looking up at you.

"Oh, [Name]-san! What brings you here?" The fox asks, tail wagging.

"Thought I'd drop in with some news."

"News?" You nod, pointing towards Louis.

"Shishigumi's got a new boss, so we're making the rounds to get acquainted." You say. The fox nods, stepping further into the building and motioning for you to follow. The fox leads you through several hallways, stopping before two grand doors.

"Just so you know, Mai is still upset at you." You groan.

"Of course she is..." Louis gives you a look, but you waved him off. "I'll tell you about it later. For now, you'd better be ready at small talk." You push open the door, walking into the main gathering room for the Inarigumi. It was set up to imitate a shrine, with bamboo mats for each visitor that set foot in here, along with a golden seat for the leader. Said leader looked up from a scroll, eyeing you with distaste.

"Ah, I was wondering who it was that had barged in at such an inconvenient time." You rolled your eyes.

"Apologies, Mai, but I swear my reason is worthwhile." You step aside, letting the fox see Louis, who moves in front of Mai.

"Greetings. My name is Louis. I am the new boss of the Shishigumi, it's an honor to meet you." He says with a bow. Mai looks surprised, but wipes the expression off of her face.

"Well now, this is quite an interesting turn of events. An herbivore as the leader of a pack of lions?" The fox said, scrutinizing Louis. He fidgeted, staring past the fox sitting on the throne.
