"I still don't like this..."
"You've been saying that for a while now, Legosi." After the wolf had come home from work, you immediately recounted to him your abrupt meeting with Yafya. He was very adamant that you were to find the horse and decline his offer, until you brought up that he would erase both of your records from the police files. After arguing with him on it, you finally got him to agree, and after a call with the horse, left to find him at the arranged meeting place.
"There you two are, just in time too." You nodded at the horse, giving him a once over. Like you and Legosi, he was dressed for the location of this criminal. "Okay, we're dealing with a leopard-gazelle hybrid in his late twenties or so." He pulls out a drawing. "The top half is like a gazelle, while the bottom half is a leopard. As he's responsible for the ivory tusk trade, he'll be sponsoring the party, so keep an eye out." Legosi stared at the mask he held, looking back up at the horse.
"Why did you ask for me to help?" Yafya smirked as he put on his own mask.
"I know the two of you are together romantically." Legosi gasped. You turned to him with mild annoyance.
"Did you blab about it again?" The wolf shook his head.
"It's not hard to deduce the fact, [Name]. What reason would an assassin like you have for sticking around a highschooler?" You clicked your tongue. Damn, he had a point. "I want Legosi to see what kind of animal is born from a mix of herbivore and carnivore." He gave you a pointed look.
"Then we'll see if it's really worth it in the end." He leapt from the roof, landing into the alleyway below and entered through a backdoor. You followed suit, waiting for Legosi to jump down as well.
"This party is full of adults who've suppressed their instincts for the longest time, Legosi. Don't get swallowed up in the madness." You spoke, before stepping into the club. The smell of drugs and sex hung heavily in the air. You scanned around the room as you followed Yafya, with Legosi clinging to your side the whole time. Another hand grabbed you, forcing you to stop in place.
"Hey, you look like you're in the mood for a good time~" You thanked the party for having to use masks, hiding your disgruntled expression. "What say you ditch the wolf and find a room to spend the night with me?" You could hear Legosi growl lightly at the masked carnivore. Without missing a beat, you brushed their hand off.
"Sorry, my dear. I'm afraid me and wolfy here were already planning on getting a room." You replied with dripping sweetness in your voice. Legosi shuddered in the corner of your vision. They left you alone after you pulled the wolf in for a faked kiss, going so far as to lift your mask slightly.
"[N-name]..."Legosi breathed. You smiled, pulling away and motioning for him to keep up. Yafya was already busy scanning the room when the two of you caught up to him. He turned his head slightly as he continued to search.
"There Are three potentials that fit the bill." He pointed out the three individuals.
"How are we supposed to know which is the right one? We can't exactly just go up to them one at a time..." Legosi whispered. You shake your head.
"Getting frustrated won't be good for thinking. We'll have to blend in with the party." You felt the horse grab your hand, to your surprise. He pulled you in close, latching onto your other hand. "For now, may I have this dance?" He dragged you away from Legosi and towards the middle of the party, where you lost sight of the wolf. You quickly matched the horse's pace, keeping up with him easily to the rhythm of the song playing.
It wasn't anything new to you by now.
"So, why'd you pick me to dance with?"
"Because I know you won't screw around and ask stupid questions." You huffed as he gave you a twirl, avoiding another couple dancing.
