~ Chapter Thirty ~
The scariest movie I've ever seen was Silent Hill. But that's probably because I saw it when I was seven years old. In theaters, with the big screen, and loud speakers making everything extra dramatic.
The part that got me nervous was when the mother enters that creepy town all alone to find her missing daughter. The difference between her and me is that I didn't need to go into the creepy forest alone. I'm not looking for anyone I care about.
So why in the world are the villains popping up? I understood in the movie it was a way to deviate the mother from getting close to her daughter.
However, my goal was to speak with Kaene. I needed him to give me the answers I was looking for. Not this siren. I don't want to see her ghastly form again.
I slowly turned around to face the siren, but she wasn't anywhere to be found. Yet I could still feel her presence as the cold chill of her whispering reached my ears once more.
"Have you found my ring?"
I remained standing, staring at nothing in particular as I answered her.
"I-"
Before I can reply, she cut me off.
"Don't lie to me human. Or Crinket there, will beat the truth out of you."
As if hearing his name from the siren's raspy voice, a small creature emerged from the darkness of the forest. The thing was no taller than my knees. It was tiny compared to the vast size of everything in the forest.
The creature had a round face that contained downturned eyes, a pointed thin nose, and round plump lips. He had short brown hair that curled at the tips. His skin tone was pale compared to mine. So pale that his pointy ears were blue at the tips. Along with its fingers.
As he came closer, I noticed he had a pair of black wings that had holes in them. They simply dragged as he walked.
The small creature only wore a large leaf around his lower half to cover his male parts. The rest of his body was exposed.
"What is that?" I asked.
"He's a dark pixie. A pet of some sorts. Cute isn't he?"
I remained quiet as I looked at the thing. He looked nothing like a pixie. The pixies from Winx Club were cuter.
Yet the siren did mention he can harm me. How? I don't want to find out. The smallest beings can always pack the strongest punch.
"So human, answer the question honestly. Have you found my ring?"
I gulped. Ruby's words replayed in my head. Yes I was upset, still slightly am, that she was only helping me in order to keep an eye on me. She doesn't want me risking her love ones. I understand that.
However, I also don't want to stay and lose the only chance I have at returning home. But if the dragons end up in trouble because of me, it'll be on my conscience.
So I took a deep breath before giving her my answer.

I emerged from the forest discreetly. I didn't want anyone to notice that I went in alone.
After talking to the siren, I turned around and abandoned my quest in finding Kaene. My thoughts were consumed with the decision I had made. And hopefully I wouldn't regret it in the future.
I looked around me as I walked. Everything and everyone seemed to be moving in slow motion. I watched as the dragons laughed with one another.
The older dragons watched on as they filled their bellies with their version of alcohol. The young women pranced around in the middle, dancing sensually to capture a young man's eye. Probably for the mating ceremony tomorrow.
