It seemed like it had been going well, until suddenly Jimin tripped on a patch of uneven concrete. As he fell, he threw his arms out to try to catch himself. As soon as his hands hit the ground, his arms gave in, scraping his hands and elbows on the concrete. Because his arms failed to save him, his knees also scraped the ground. His head hit the ground. Not hard, thankfully, just enough to leave a bruise.
Jungkook gasped. Scarlet blood was gushing out of his wounds. He attempted to stand up, but his ankle collapsed from under him. Jungkook tried to catch him, but Jimin had fallen too quickly. Jimin sat, curled up on the ground, unable to stand, shaking. He was breathing heavily, hyperventilating.
He let out a quiet whimper. Tears fell like raindrops. Jungkook knelt down and put his hand on Jimin’s side. Jimin relaxed slightly, his breathing slowing back to normal. Jungkook didn’t even know what to say, so he sat there stroking Jimin’s side, trying his best to help. After Jungkook stopped panicking, he realised how defenseless Jimin looked, a crumpled up ball on the sidewalk, crying, shaking, bleeding.
“Can you stand?” Jungkook held out his hand.
Jimin looked up, tears covering his face, his eyes shining with tears. He took Jungkook’s hand and attempted to stand up. His ankle gave out and he fell back on the ground again.
“My ankle…”He managed to say.
Jungkook examined his ankle. “It looks like you sprained it.”
Jimin stared at his ankle for a moment. He pulled his legs in and wrapped his arms around them, curled up in a ball. He rested his chin on his knees and cried. Jungkook sat next to him and threw his arms around him, holding him tightly. He pulled Jimin into his lap. Jimin clung to Jungkook, desperately crying. He was still bleeding, his blood seeping out and staining both his and Jungkook’s clothes. Jungkook hugged him tighter, and Jimin buried his face in Jungkook’s chest.
“I-I’m s-s-sorry,”Jimin paused crying long enough to say.
“Why?” Jungkook asked.
Jimin clung tighter to Jungkook, so Jungkook hugged him tighter. His crying slowed after a few minutes. He still clung to him. His shaking had also stopped. Jungkook still held him tightly. Jungkook moved his head from resting on Jimin’s head. He looked at Jimin, feeling bad for him. He stroked Jimin’s hair for a moment. He leaned forward and gave Jimin a kiss on the head. He buried his face on Jimin’s hair, smelling the sweet scent of his hair.
“I’m s-sorry,” Jimin whispered so quiet Jungkook could barely hear him.
“You keep saying that, why are you sorry?” Jungkook hugged him tighter.
“We were having a nice walk, and I ruined it. I fell over and sprained my ankle, then I cried.”Jimin said, still quietly.
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault,” Jungkook quickly replied.
“If I wasn’t so clumsy…”He trailed off.
Jimin pulled back, removing his arms from around Jungkook. Jungkook almost fell, since he had his head buried in Jimin’s hair. Jungkook put his hand on Jimin’s shoulder. Jimin stared into his eyes, at first with sadness, then when he realised everything that had happened, that he was sitting in Jungkook’s lap, that Jungkook kissed him, even though it was on the head it still counted, and he blushed. He blushed more than 2 ripe, fresh strawberries combined.
“Um… So… Should we continue walking?” Jimin asked.
“Can you walk with that ankle?”Jungkook motioned to his ankle.
“I think so,” Jimin looked at his ankle.
He stood up and winced. He didn’t want Jungkook to see how injured he really was. He put his weight on his bad ankle. He took a step forward, limping slightly, but trying hard not to show it. He could feel Jungkook watching him.
“See? It doesn’t even hurt,” Jimin smiled at Jungkook.
“How can you smile when you’re in that much pain?” Jungkook sighed.
Jimin continued walking, or rather, limping. His foot dragged on the concrete. His wounds were still bleeding. He stopped and closed his eyes because of the pain. He breathed a rugged breath, then continued walking.
“Are you sure that you’re okay?” Jungkook attempted to help him, but Jimin shoved him away.
I’m fine,”Jimin continued limping.
Jungkook sighed and watched him limp. Jimin realised that he was watching, and tried to walk properly. He took a proper step forward, and his ankle collapsed. He fell to the side of his bad ankle, the side Jungkook was on. Jungkook figured that would happen, and was prepared to catch him. In a swift movement, he caught Jimin and scooped him up in his arms, carrying him bridal style.
“You’re so stubborn. If you had just let me help you, none of this would have happened,”Jungkook started walking again. “At least we’re almost back.”
Jimin didn’t respond. Jungkook could feel him crying again. He slowly stopped crying, and his breathing slowed except for an occasional rugged breath. A few minutes later, if that, he was asleep, his head buried in Jungkook’s chest. He looked peaceful, besides the fact that he was covered in blood. His breathing rose and fell to the same beat as Jungkook’s steps.
