Another couple of months passed and things were changing in Lindsey and Stevie's lives. With a bunch of demo tapes, her full journals of songs and his head filled with melodies, they were leaving in search for their stardom.
"I still can't believe we're moving to Los Angeles!" Lindsey beamed with excitement as he and Stevie were enjoying a walk in the park.
"Although, I still think we've gone completely insane."
"Are you having second thoughts, Steves?" He looked around for a bench for them to sit on.
"No, no not that. I'm very glad we've decided to do this, but it's scary." She shrugged her shoulders. "We have our families here and who's waiting for us over there?"
"I know this won't be easy, baby, but we must make this move in order to achieve something bigger. You know that there's no way we'll make a name for ourselves if we stay here."
"You're right, I know you are." She sighed and forced a smile for him. “Are we going to be ok?”
“What do you mean, Angel?”
“Well… is moving to Los Angeles really the only solution? Are we going to survive by ourselves?”
“Of course we are, we’re Buckingham and Nicks, we’ll make it big time, baby.”
She actually believed him, but needed the constant reassurance nevertheless. His fire and passion was enchanting, in her heart she knew he wanted nothing more than to be a famous rock star and they’re going to become ones if he had anything to say about it. “Buckingham and Nicks.” She whispered. “That sounds great.”
“Yeah.” He nodded and pressed a kiss to her hair. “Buckingham Nicks sounds even better.”
“You know, you’re right.” She agreed and turned to face him. “We’ll be ok.” It wasn't a question this time.
“I promise you, Steves.” He smiled and kisses her.
They spent the whole day doing nothing besides visiting their favorite places to snap a mental picture of each of them, to have something with them when they leave home. When it started getting dark and a little chilly, Lindsey suggested going back to his parents' house and since Stevie's were out of town, she agreed.
After enjoying dinner cooked by Lindsey's mother, they went up to his room. It was getting rather late and while they weren't exactly ten anymore, his mother still said they shouldn't stay up much longer. Lindsey let her sleep in his bed and he got himself a mattress on the floor, that's what his parents were told. Instead they were curled up in bed together, neither of them was asleep yet. She was enjoying the warmth of his body way too much to waste in sleep. He had his arms tightly around her tiny body, she thought he had started to drift off, because he didn't respond the first time she said his name. “Lindseeeeeeeey…” She tried again.
“Mm?” He finally mumbled.
"Hey..."
"Steves, you can't be serious." He spoke into her hair, yawning.
"Don't tell me you're tired. We did nothing today."
"Yeah, except walked around town four countless hours."
"It's just walking."
"Do you have something else on your mind then?"
"Maybe I do..." She trailed off suggestively.
It was dark outside and it was raining, and so romantic to her for whatever reason, he didn't know. They made love, having full understanding of each other's bodies and needs by now. There was no rush, it was sensual and tender, gentle and loving. She was still fully awake, her head resting on his chest as he was already asleep. She smiled sadly to herself and wiped a single tear away. She could have been so happy...

They woke up early the next morning, Lindsey couldn't ignore the sudden change he saw in Stevie. She was playful and excited as they were discussing the plans of their future together in Los Angeles. Now she just stood by the window looking out, with her arms wrapped around herself. He was concerned, he approached her from the back and replaced her arms with his, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"What's up with you today?"
"Nothing." She wasn't fooling him.
"You were so happy yesterday, what could be different now?"
"Nothings is, Linds. Quit worrying, ok?" She tried her best, but they both knew what a horrible actress she was.
"Promise me everything is fine?" He turned her around in his arms. "That you are fine?"
She nodded and pecked him on the lips. "I... Could you walk with me to my parents' house?"
"Leaving already?" He couldn't hide his disappointment.
"I have a few things to take care of."
"Well, if you say so..."
They remained silent, because Stevie avoided conversation and Lindsey had run out of starters. She wasn't ok and he was sure about it, though, having her admit it proved to be an impossible task, unless she decided to speak up herself.
Lindsey hugged and kissed her goodbye as if it were the last time he was going to be able to do so. Little did he know... His blue grey eyes bore into her deep brown ones and it finally broke her. "I'm sorry, Lindsey."
"What are you sorry for, Steves?"
She couldn't stop herself from crying. "I can't..."
"What, baby? What is it that you can't do?"
"I can't go with you to Los Angeles."
"What are you talking about?" He prayed she was kidding around, however cruel he might have thought it was. "Stevie, please... Why can't you go with me?"
She opened her mouth to explain, but she simply couldn't say the words.
