I was worried

It was Stevie's birthday. She didn't want to go out and have a drink with friends, family mattered more to her than anything and there she was with both her parents, her brother, Lindsey and their daughter. After a nice meal that Barbara had prepared, Chris left immediately, showing no interest in staying around. Amber had lost interest two, she moved on to playing with her toys. It left Stevie's parents and her and Lindsey at the table. They hadn't said anything about being back together, but neither her mother nor father were stupid or blind.

"I've been meaning to ask you, Lindsey..." Jess began. "What are your plans? For you and Stevie that is."

"Well, I... umm..." He was nervous, he knew that Stevie's parents' opinion mattered to her and she wouldn't do anything without their blessing. She took his hand under the table to encourage him to go on. "Actually... I wanted to ask you something."

"What would that be?"

"I love your daughter more than anything and I know I haven't been always good to her, but I swear to myself and you to never do anything that would cause her pain. Stevie is the most wonderful person to let me in again after everything we've been through and..."

Jess thought he should end Lindsey's suffering. "You want to marry my daughter, don't you?"

He nodded, his mouth dry. "Yes, very much."

"It's not up to me or to Barbara, it's solely Stevie's decision. All I care is that you treat her the way she deserves to be treated, that you take care of her and you love her."

"And I do, from the bottom of my heart."

"We know that, Lindsey." Barbara smiled, standing next to her husband. "I'll look after Amber, sweetheart. I think you need some time for just the two of you." She said to Stevie.

"Oh no, mom, I don't want you to..."

"Just go, will you!"

"Thank you." Stevie grabbed Lindsey's hand and led their way upstairs to her room.

"That went so much better than I expected." She exhaled deeply, sitting down on the bed.

"It really did. You have amazing parents, Steves." Lindsey remained where he was.

"I know, I don't know what I would do without them." She said, but it was time for something else. She lay down on her back, then propped herself up on her elbows. "You're not going to join me?"

"I think we have some unfinished business, my dear."

She frowned, sitting up straight. "What would that be?"

"When we were at that diner..." It hit her right away and she was beginning to tear up already. "I proposed without a ring if I remember correctly." He took out a small gift box from inside pocket of his jacket and opened it in front of her. "Will you marry me, Stephanie?"

She jumped up off the bed and at him, pushing him on the floor. "Of course I will marry you!" She pressed kisses all over his face. "Put it on!" She demanded and he laughed at her eagerness. With slightly shaking hands he slid the ring on her finger and then kissed it. "Oh, Lindsey, it's beautiful..."

"It is? I was worried. I mean... I did the best I could." He was a little embarrassed.

"No, silly. It's perfect, it really is. I love it and I love you." She kissed him and dragged him off the floor and onto bed. "I think, this is my favorite birthday ever."

"I'm glad, Steves." He said, hovering above her. She pulled his face to hers and kissed his lips again and again, and again until he had to break away for some air. "You're going to kill me."

She smiled sweetly at him and he did the same, she was infectious. "I love you so much, Bucks."

"You have no idea..." He leaned to capture her lips. "And you're stuck with me... forever."

"I'm quite alright with that." She laughed softly. "I can't wait to be your wife."

"I think Stephanie Lynn Buckingham sounds amazing."

"So do I." She felt butterflies at the mention of that. "And I can't wait for a another couple of little Bucks running around."

"Is that so?"

"Why, you don't want that?"

"No, no... I was just thinking we should probably start working on that." He smiled and kissed her after once more reminding her of his love.

Are you guys still with me? :) I'm not sure if this will go on for much longer, but I would love some feedback! Thanks!
