you turned away from her, drawing your eyes to the floor instead. "i dont think im good enough. im average at best, there's nothing special about me."

billie frowned and cupped your face, "now thats simply not true."

you gave a slight hum but didn't say anything else, only looking everywhere but billie. her thumb grazed your lips and up your cheek, and she smiled softly.

"whats your evidence?" she challenged.

"what?"

"your evidence. why do you think you're not good enough."

you shrugged, trying to think of some actual reason, but you came up empty. "i don't know. i just know im not."

she poked your nose and giggled, "that just won't work for me, y/n." she stared at you for another few seconds before speaking again.

"you may not feel like you're good enough, but i know you are. i've seen your grades on your college papers, i've heard you practice your speeches, i've read all your essays. you're problem isn't that you're not good enough; it's that you want to be the very best at everything you do, and when you feel like you're not, that's when you think you aren't good enough. because it's not perfect. and you and i both know that nothing is perfect."

you leaned into her chest, a small, almost invisible smile on your face. you knew she would understand, she always did.

billie wrapped her arms around you and laughed a little louder at the muffled sounds you made. she brushed her fingers through your hair and began to rub your back.

"you've got this."
