cordelia
request: maybe one where reader is insecure about her powers and just her in general? like she's naturally shy and soft spoken, doesnt stick up for herself much and when the opportunity presents itself she never allows herself to do something/be great. and that makes delia super frustrated bc she knows how talented and special reader is, and one day the reader doesnt feel like shes good enough for anything and anyone and delia comforts and reassures her? this was all over the place I'm so sorry 😭
note: this didn't go how i wanted it to, the ending feels rushed and for that i am sorry.-
Everyone knew how special you were, everyone except you, that was. You'd been at the school for more than five months and still hadn't formed any close relationships with anyone. You stayed in your room for as much as you could, only finding your way out when it was dark and everyone else was asleep.
Cordelia had kept an eye on you a lot of the time. She worried about your wellbeing and adjustments the last few months. While doing so, sometimes she would catch you in the middle of a spell or practicing your powers, both of which you were well ahead of the other girls in. One time she even saw you bring life to an animal far beyond reach. Cordelia immediately congratulated you, but you panicked at her presence and scrambled to your room.
The supreme let out a gentle sigh in frustration, not at you of course, but at your insecurities. They were the only thing preventing you from embracing yourself.
Cordelia scheduled for classes to begin teaching how to push your powers, not to the maximum quite yet, but to the point where a little more could get done. Yet when it was your turn, you didn't push yourself at all. Instead you sat still, acting as if you didn't know what powers or witches or even spells were. The class couldn't help but begin to laugh at you. It was humiliating, even more so because you knew what you were capable of - you were just afraid.
You don't remember running off, but you must have because the next thing you knew you were at the park with your sketchbook in hand. The sketches weren't of any importance really, just a few lively things you thought were beautiful.
Your quietness was interrupted however, when the all too familiar voice of the supreme drifted through your ears.
"Y/N! I've been looking for you everywhere, are you okay?"
She startled you, causing your sketchbook to slip out from your hands and onto the ground. Cordelia bent down and picked up the small book, her fingers lightly running over the pages.
"These are beautiful."
"They're just drafts, nothing impressive really."
"You're very talented, you know that right?" Cordelia pushed, but you were having none of it. "We should probably head back to the school. I'm not sure how long it'll last without you there." You tried to joke.
"The school will be fine." You nodded and gently took the sketchbook from her hands.
"Why don't you ever show yourself? You're a very gifted person, Y/N."
You shrugged, suddenly feeling shy again. But Cordelia wanted to know you, so naturally she didn't stop. She cupped your face in her hands, directing your line of sight into her eyes.
"Oh sweetie, let me in. Let me see what you can do." You were quick to shake your head no and began backing away from Cordelia.
"No, no, you don't get it! I'm not good enough. I never will be, why won't you understand that? Nothing that I do amounts to anything-"
Cordelia pulled you close to her. "None of that is true, my sweet one. You are filled with so much talent and beauty, not only in your looks or personality, but in your hands as well. There is so much power inside of you, Y/N. I want to help you embrace it, if you're willing?"
It took a moment of consideration, but you agreed. And from that day forward you let her in, granting her permission to see all of you.
