Pines House, Piedmont'I should really stop pulling all-nighters,' Dipper thought grumpily as he put a hand to his open mouth, 'It only makes me feel more tired.'
"Hey Dipper!" Yelled Mabel as her brother made his way towards the breakfast table.
Dipper sat down heavily and eyed his sister with thinly veiled disbelief.
'Welp, looks like Mabel recovered from last night's nightmare,' He thought slightly irritated, 'Oh well, at least one of us is having a good morning.'
"Morning," He said aloud instead, sinking into his chair as he blindly reached for the jug of milk.
He began pouring the milk into his bowl until he was satisfied, and then he reached for the box of cereal.
He read the label on the box and grimaced in frustration, "Really Mabel? Lucky Charms again?" He asked exasperatedly, even as he began pouring the cereal into the milk.
Mabel rolled her eyes, "C'mon Dipper, it's not like you even dislike it that much," She said brightly as she shoved a spoonful of Lucky charms, laced with edible glitter, into her mouth.
She chewed thoughtfully on the sugary treat for a few seconds before scrunching her nose and pointing her spoon at her twin, "Besides," she said as she swallowed her food, "It's not like I am the weird one here."
Dipper rolled his eyes, "Oh please," He grumbled as he stirred his cereal, "Is this about me putting the milk before the cereal? It's not even that uncommon and I like it better that way!"
Mabel hissed at him, "It's not natural, Dipper!"
"Well nothing we ever do is natural Mabel!"
The twins glared at each other for a few moments before they dissolved into laughter.
"S-seriously though," Dipper said as he composed himself, "We really need to pick a different brand of cereal. There is no way Lucky Charms are actually healthy."
"Your brother is right Mabel," Said a familiar voice cutting directly into their conversation.
The twins turned around to the source of the voice, only to see their parents coming down the stairs.
"Morning kids!" Exclaimed their father, Michael Pines, who was also the one that cut into their conversation, jovially. He was a man of many words, often optimistic, who enjoyed the sun and was a real social animal (which helped his career, considering the fact that he was the manager of one of the more successful restaurants in town.)
It wasn't hard to guess which of the twins inherited his attitude towards life.
Their mother, Emilie Pines née Hills, on the other hand, was very much unlike her husband and daughter. She was a woman of few words, but very great intelligence. She worked at the local hospital as a children's doctor and often writes novels in her free time.
And it wouldn't be much to assume who resembled her more of her children.
"Pff- who cares about 'healthy'?" Mabel laughed as she poured herself a second helping of cereal, "This tastes good!"
Dipper snorted, "You're only saying that 'cuz it has marshmallows!" He said, his voice practically dripping with contempt at the word 'marshmallows'.
Oh don't get him wrong, he loves candy, but for some reason, Dipper has always hated marshmallows (much to his sister's outrage, because ‘how dare he!’).
