The chilly wind blew through fair hair. The gray clouds didn't help with the warmth as the sun hid from the Island for several days now. Ralph used his arms as a bitter jacket while he made his way to Jack's half of the Island. He didn't want to, but a little part of Ralph told him he had to, so he continued his travels.

As he approached the silhouette of Castle Rock, heads of savages popped in and out. Roger jumped from a ledge and stood on the rocky bridge. Ralph slumped in his arms.

"Who goes there?" Roger exclaimed, raising his spear in guard. Ralph wasn't feeling this tomfoolery, so he ignored Rogers' question and continued to make his way.

Roger straightened up as he recognized the figure.

"Oh, Ralph." he said flatly, "What do you want?'

Ralph shivered in the coming wind, "I came to see Jack."

Roger leaned on his stick, "I wouldn't bother the Chief if I were you. He'd put your head on a stick, which I'd happily assist in."

Ralph felt his temper flare, but he let it go.

"I assure you that he'd need to hear it."

Roger rolled his eyes as he turned on his heel.

"Oi, Chief! We've got something." Roger yelled.

Ralph could recognize Jack's voice from behind the rocks.

"What? What the hell do you want now?" Jack said, stomping down the rocks, "I can't leave anyone here without someone or something getting broken. God! I don't know why-- oh."

Ralph glared at Jack as he began shivering more vigorously. Jack looked at Ralph the same way, the air jittery with vibes.

Jack narrowed his eyebrows, "What do you want now, Ralph? I didn't kill you, I gave you the specs. What could you possibly want?"

Ralph looked through his curtain of hair. "I need to tell you something," he hissed, "important."

Jack squinted his eyes.

"Fine. But you gotta be quick."

Maurice handed Jack his robe. Since it started to get colder, Jacks have been using it to be warm while he was out and about.

"Roger," Jack said, not taking his eyes off of Ralph, "take over for me."

Roger nodded, "Yes, Chief."

Ralph rolled his eyes.

Jack escorted Ralph into the jungle where they won't be seen by the others. The stone turned into dirt and dirt into the undergrowth. Jack hands the robe to Ralph.

"Here." he said.

"Huh?" Ralph said, so confused that there wouldn't be a word for it.

The boys stopped walking.

Jack aggressively offered the robe to Ralph. "Take it."

Ralph immediately became defensive, "Why?"

Jack's eyes darted from Ralph to the robe, and back at Ralph, "You're gonna get sick."

"No, I'm not."

"Yes, you are."

"Sod off, Jack."

Jack's eyes flared, "just take the goddamn robe."

Ralph threw his hands up, "Fine!"

Ralph snatched the robe from Jack's grip, wrapped it around his shoulders, and continued walking. Ralph tried his best to avoid eye contact. Now Jack's naked chest was getting hit by the wind, and the lack of meat on his bones really didn't help.

"So, what was so important that you had to interrupt my conversation?" Jack said, crossing his arms in coldness.

Ralph stayed silent as they snuck through creepers. He focused on anything but Jack.

"Ralph tell me," demanded Jack. Ralph kept quiet.

"Ralph," Jack said with warning. Ralph ignored him.

Blood rushed into Jack's head, "Tell me, dammit."

Ralph lashed his arms out all of a sudden, "Okay! Okay."

Ralph faced Jack as he crossed his arms again but still didn't look at him. He muttered something under his breath.

"Huh?" Jack said.

"I'm gonna kill myself!" screamed Ralph.

Ralph's statement struck Jack in the test in some way he couldn't quite describe, but he did know that it struck him so hard that his arms fell loose. Ralph sighed.

"I'm gonna kill myself," he said quieter, "I'm tired, and no one would care if I did die. Everyone at home already thinks I'm dead anyway, so I guess this is just the end of the line."

Jack looked at Ralph, his mouth gaping. Ralph laughed and hit his forehead, "I don't know why I'm telling you this. I guess I just had to tell someone before I went and..."

Jack remained speechless. He pulled his hands in and crossed his arms. Ralph sniffed, "I guess you're not gonna say anything. I don't know what I expected."

Jack did want to say something, but he didn't know what. Ralph moved his hair out of his face, "I guess I'll..."

Ralph walked off into the opposite direction of where they came from. Jack saw the last of his tan skin through the bushes where it was the last time when they spoke.
